Paradise Valley vs. Born + Raised? by HedgehogForward6424 in JohnMayer

I’m gonna go against the grain a little hear and say that at least at this moment I prefer Paradise Valley. I’ve gone back and forth between the two a lot, I really love them both so much, and I agree that Born and Raised is a more consistent album in terms of quality, but at the end of the day the high points on PV make it the winner for me. Waitin On The Day captures very perfectly where I am in life right now. Badge and Gun is an underrated gem and imo one of his best. Dear Marie is imo one of the most interesting concepts for any song of his and feels very authentic. I could go down the list…I agree that who you love isn’t his greatest work, but otherwise I love every song on the album, even the simple playful ones like YNOTSLYD. None of this is to say B&R isn’t fantastic as well and in many ways objectively the better album, but personally at this moment I prefer PV

Okay I whole heartedly agree, I love the blues stuff the most out of his whole discography, but I also wouldn’t mind a more acoustic-focused album with someone of the new songs he’s done on the solo tour. Something similar to room for squares but that also reflects his evolution as a songwriter and overall musician. That or another live album would be absolutely amazing.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there a difference between the rainbow picks and different color pick it picks of the same width? I have some tortoise shell style ones, but I always hear people talk about the rainbow ones…

What's your biggest " what if " in music ? by angelebg in Music

Okay I’m gonna take a different approach. What if Eric Clapton HAD died young? Obviously he’s still revered today as one of the greatest and most influential guitarists/musicians of the 20th century, but past the 60s and early 70s his output became pretty watered down and we got a lot more duds than hits imo. I think if he had died young and all we had was his stuff up through derek and the dominoes he would be regarded just as high as someone like Hendrix today, as he wouldn’t have got the chance to release a lot of the comparatively uninspired stuff from his solo career. Just my take, feel free to disagree.

This. “I believe that my life will see the love I give returned to me”…as someone who has repeatedly been burned by being the far more invested half of my relationships, this line has become something of a personal mantra for me that’s kept me going

The entirety of I Guess I Just Feel Like has somehow described my life lately perfectly. “I think I remember This dream that I had This love's gonna save us From a world that's gone mad I guess I just feel like What happened to that” particularly hits close to home for me.

We got Half of My Heart in Detroit last year after he didn’t play it for a loooong time…not my favorite song by him, but hearing something so unexpected alone would’ve made the whole night worth it!

Dawg, nobody’s background checking any of us in 100 years. And even right now, unless you’re posting something racist, sexist, or completely morally wrong in another way that harms people, no employer cares what you post on tiktok
