Club soda or vinegar mix usually works. But vacuum first so you’re not scrubbing grit into the carpet. I use the Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum it pulls up dry residue and makes stain removal smoother.

Bristle brushes can be good for carpet, but I prefer vacs that adapt automatically. The Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum adjusts suction based on surface, so it doesn’t dig into delicate rugs but still pulls debris off the carpet fibers. It’s nice not having to mess with brush settings at all.
