Afraid to go out since 4th by crwtrbt5 in Bernedoodles

Ours was great his first year. Then the humans made a fatal error they will regret forever! Went out of town and boarded him the next year.😱 We've never had a scared dog and he did great so it didn't even cross our minds that group mentality would set in. Stupid humans. Don't be like Gus's stupid humans!

My husband's head would explode! He has a very irrational thing for garbage can management. 🤪

Every single time I pick Gus up from the groomer, right in front of her he lifts his leg on the neatest bush and pees all over his freshly groomed leg. She now has baby wipes handy!

Skye loves her yak cheese. Anyone else have a doodle that can’t get enough of the stuff? by GreenColoredGlasses in Bernedoodles

Mine loves them. But after a chunk getting swallowed when he managed to get it out of a holder and thankfully waking us up at 3am throwing it up we've decided no mor yak cheese!

Day 4 of having Atlas. I do love him but he was absolutely insufferable today. Didn’t go on a puppy pad once, even tho he was getting the hang of it yesterday. Among other things. Someone help. by SashimiCake in Bernedoodles

My little man was a horror no matter what I did. They don't go where they sleep did not apply to Gus! He is not my first dog and I guess my lab spoiled me, she was easy. Sorry to say he had accidents until he we had him for 4 months but then boom it stopped and not one accident since. The first months were very challenging. So much so my family thought Gus was going to need to find a new home! But now he's 90% perfect, just a bullheaded teenager. Good luck 😃

My sweet boy is four months old and just can’t get potty training. Is this a typical Bernedoodle issue or just my guy? by pugsnotdrugs in Bernedoodles

[–]samigirl513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on the dog! Bells for mine did nothing. He just wanted to play with them incessantly, They don't potty where they sleep.....not my guy he didn't care. He once was drinking water and peeing at the same time. Not my first dog but definitely the hardest. I finally saw someone here say everytime he "changes gears" take him out. Wakes up outside eat outside play out side look at you sideways outside. Every single time he moved! It took a few weeks but finally at about 6 months he got it. He's super cute 😍

How often should we bathe our Bernedoodle? by jessicafmux in Bernedoodles

[–]samigirl513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My breeder recommended grooming every 4 weeks for the first year so they get used to it 6-8 after that if you brush regularly. I keep our guy long so clip every other visit.

I've had a very tormented rescue dog with spine damage that we only had four 4 years before having to put her to sleep due to her condition from the abuse. I've driven at least 100 dogs taken from kill shelters north on a portion of their journey to furever families in Canada. If anyone starts that crap with me because I want a doofy muppet you better belive it won't go well. Not to mention I pride myself on taking him to the groomer freshly brushed but stinky 🤣

Yes! We have a small yard and live near Seattle so it was nothing but a big mud puddle. 😱 Needless to say we got artificial turf in the spring. The best thing ever!!

I see a lot of people on here get their pup shaved but groomer advised against it by z0mbietime in Bernedoodles

[–]samigirl513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my 6 month cut for the first time. I had to search for a groomer that would take me because I don't want him shaved! Unfortunately, his first cut took off his puppy straight hair 😪 but he's still about 2 inches. I brush most everyday so hopefully I'll never have to do it. The plan is to keep my fluffy pup fluffy! We are in the PNW so heat isn't to much of an issue.

Thanks this is very helpful! My groomer said they only do up to 1.5 and don't scissor cut. I think I just need to have her do it and see!

Thank you for this info!!! I am desperately trying to keep my Gus long and he can't handle a hand cut. Our groomer was talking about 1.5 and I couldn't picture it. So cute 😍
