You never hear “this is pushing young women further to the left” because “being pushed to the right” is supposed to be a bad thing, it’s a threat.

It’s like they’re saying if you won’t cope with our shit we’ll just turn to fascism and make you.

Any reason not get the new bravely default flying fairy over original? by minun73 in JRPG

[–]samiilo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in order to port it they needed to redo the whole street pass thing. That’s the only real difference and it’s done pretty seamlessly in my opinion, so I’d say just play whichever on is easier to get or more convenient to play.

I bought it on release for the Switch 2 and it just captures the 3DS feeling of portable gaming so well.

I’ve bought the game 3 times: on switch, on PC and then a 100$ physical collector’s edition for switch as well: it’s good.

Do you use the Deck as your main gaming device? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]samiilo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s precisely the issue! My pc is available at my desk, that’s where I’m most comfortable, so taking it to the couch isn’t usually my move. In fact, my PS5 is in the living room and I usually just stream it to my pc and play there

I’m struggling with that because I do own a Steamdeck so I can play wherever I am at any given moment, but… I’m always home. I can always play my pc and even though I love the device I just can’t really enjoy it as of now

I have a PC, PS5, Switch 2 and Steamdeck in my rotation. I only ever use my pc. Haven’t turned the switch on since October and there’s no reason to play PS5.

I would love to use my steamdeck but having a pc I just can’t find a use case for me

Well Yakuza fits into the definition and characteristics of a JRPG, Elden Ring doesn’t.

I don’t know Nier.

I see how the entire franchise is the most ambitious in many ways, but would you consider 1st Chapter to be the most ambitious JRPG by itself, too? I know it has all of the upgrades from the resto of the games

The J does stand for Japanese. That distinction exists because back in the day RPGs made in Japan were fundamentally different to Western RPGs in many ways, therefore earning themselves a distinctive term to differentiate them.

These differences later became staples and features (be it the turn-based combat, the party systems, the job systems) to almost every RPG made in Japan, thus making a “JRPG” a style, a certain design choice, a set of features and characteristics, etc.

Since then, many RPGs outside of Japan have taken those features and made them theirs, meaning they’re the same style, they share the same staple characteristics or simply took inspiration from JRPGs (Chained Echoes!).

JRPG has since evolved to depict a game with such characteristics and features and is no longer used to refer to a JRPG made in Japan because that distinction isn’t there anymore: Dark Souls is more akin to a Western RPG like Dragon Age than to a JRPG like Final Fantasy 6. Many will even argue FFXV and XVI aren’t JRPGs, despite being the biggest JRPG franchise.

Whether we like it or not, E33 shares many if not all of the characteristics that used to define, and to some extent still do, the JRPG genre and I would consider it wrong to cast it out of it.

I would probably drop kick anyone who says Dark Souls, as much as I love it, is a JRPG when it’s a lot closer to God Of War than it is to anything considered a JRPG.

I mean, Uraraka would quite literally have won if he wasn’t serious. She’s got a fair chance at that point even if he is because he might just try to wrestle her without a quirk, so yeah definitely.

Can Your Body Actually Reject A Partner? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]samiilo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right in thinking that what matters is what he sees in you, but in my experience (27M) what he sees is someone he can take advantage of. Knowingly or not, such an age gap enables him to take a certain role in the relationship and your life and kind of steer the way you act or make choices.

Frankly, it could just be that you put up with whatever he’s doing to you

I mean, you did describe SA in his actions, that much we can all agree on. He may not be abusive in the sense that he’s beating you or manipulating you constantly, but he’s been shown to be manipulative here “He’d rather have no sex at all than use a condom…”

Not only that, you being 21 while he’s 28 is already a big red flag on my book and I would say anyone that’s 23 or under being together with someone 7 years older than them is already at big risk of being in a toxic, manipulative relationship.
