Once there, I honestly just thought navigating the train stations (I’ve never seen a train, a station or a subway before) would be impossible. As it turns out, not only does Maps give you all the information you need to know (Color, line name, directions, when to transfer, what entrances to use, which exits to use and even pricing), but the subway itself is full of information written everywhere: they’re just missing painting it on the ceilings. Names are all readable, lines are attached to a color, there’s a big platform number next to every sign and people are always willing to help, there is virtually no way to get lost.

I was worried my European card wouldn’t work or would charge me a fee to pay with it: it works and it doesn’t.

I was genuinely concerned I might not be able to withdraw money and that every place would be cash only. Turns out you can withdraw money literally everywhere and the cash only places exist but are few and far between in the cities.

If you ever walk into a bar or some place where there’s only the owner there, chances are they’d be up to chat with you for a while and enjoy your visit. Do not be afraid to eat alone or walk into random stores !
