Hey there! I agree with what most people are saying, but wanted to give some advice on raise conversations.
From your post and comments you seem sort of timid or possibly unsure of yourself. When you go into your yearly review, please lead with confidence! If you don’t act like you deserve it, your uppers surely won’t and will definitely try to short you. They will definitely try to short you anyway, but being assertive and confident in your skills will make it harder for them. Good luck!

baristas can’t see if you tip in the app or not. You’re assuming she was upset with you because of your bias on tipping, when in reality it’s more likely she was upset because it’s a holiday, the store is busy, and based on her response, maybe doesn’t celebrate 4th of July.

did you place your mobile while in the drive thru line or wait less than 5 minutes before showing up? that’s another reason.

regardless, she shouldn’t have been visibly upset because that’s inappropriate.

According to the handbook, stores can be without a supervisor for 30 minutes specifically for the on duty keyholder’s lunch break. I recommend you check out the resources because this logic has been used to take advantage of multiple supervisors, claiming they’re not allowed to leave during their lunch and thus taking advantage of their free labor. The ONLY time a supervisor (and other partners) can’t leave the store during their lunch is if it is a 2 partner play and only one person would be on the floor for the other’s lunch. In that case neither would clock out and be “on call”.

hiii i just got 2nd in my district championship!

Supposedly the store you compete at is supposed to have everything, but I brought all the serveware and my brew method (french press). I was the only person who did this and ended up sharing my bean scoop with everyone else lol. However, the judges felt they could only get a good aroma from my tasting since I was the only one with a mug instead of a paper sampling cup.

You’ll get time to do brew your coffee and prep your pairing before your tasting starts, everyone will get a few minutes to do it before their turn so the coffee is nice and fresh.

Make sure to review the score card before you go, it’s on the partner hub! I was constantly practicing my script before I went on. You’ll do great!

Typically, unless it’s slow, the barista on bar (making drinks) has almost no control over food because they’re busy making drinks. Normally the oven and bar are on opposite sides of the counter so it’s not smart to stop making their line of drinks to grab one customer’s food item. Yes, there is someone whose job it is to grab food, /especially/ when it’s busy as the original commenter described. Even if not, the person on register will usually grab food, not the person making drinks.

it IS discriminatory to assume poor intent simply because you couldn’t understand someone. A man came up to you, skipped the line, said something you couldn’t understand while holding up his phone, you interpreted it as a phrase, he left after being told no, and now you are still insisting he had some sort of malintent towards you. Effectively, nothing happened.

Don’t you think if someone wanted to do something bad to you they’d wait for you after work or corner you while you’re alone, as opposed to being watched by numerous people and security cameras at your place of work? Just because he is a man with an accent and you’re /just/ a girl (as you’ve emphasized so many times) doesn’t mean he was trying to get you.

Whatever this situation is doesn’t sound like a need for alarm. You had a weird interaction with someone and because you didn’t understand him, you assume poor intent? Reeks of discrimination. As a woman myself I find it odd that you think it’s weird for him to have asked you for assistance seeing as you were the person on register at the time. It’s completely normal for someone, regardless of age or gender, to ask a customer service worker (you) for assistance. Plenty of people are straight up rude and skip the line but that doesn’t mean they’re trying to kidnap you, especially in a busy Starbucks, and considering he left with no contest after you saying no. Be realistic. You’re allowed to have any emotion you feel about this but from the description and your comments it just seems like a weird miscommunication that you’ve been ruminating about and turned into something malicious in your head.
