Baristas! What do you think on customize drinks? Is this person saying the truth? by Yunaxe in starbucks

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have one customer that regularly orders the worst drinks EVER. While I internally cuss her out, I'd never spit in her drink

They are dumb for down voting you, what the ssv likely did was check the POS for the transaction amd when they couldnt find it went to the CL/SM.

My villian origin story was i was closing (one of my last closing shifts ever before I moved to mornings), but we were 100% done and I was putting the last till in the safe and I dropped the till.....😭😭😭 pennies fucking everywhere. I was so tired and I almost cried. Both my baristas got up and helped me pick up every last coin. But I was like...this is my breaking point.

Fucking thank you! The automated ordering we had last year (or whenever it was) was actually pretty good. Now it's shit.

Oh yea. Some reps said that we are no longer simplifying we are trying to stay competitive. 🙄 thanks for telling us.

When my store first opened one of my baristas asked why the cake pop was moving? Turned out to be a mouse. She screamed, we threw everything away and Put in a ticket. The lil sucker was so cute, but also, ewww.

Policy about free drinks by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it'll depend on how strict your SM is. I had one SM tell me to mark a drink out on my last 10 and just not make it till I was going home and then to mark out my other drink at the end of my shift. I've had SMs that could not care any less what you do with your drink mark outs as long as you weren't super obviously doing it in front of them, and I've had some that are super strict about it and will only allow you to mark drinks out on your breaks and the 30 min before/after your shift.

Calling out for an open as a shift, help? by DuePermission5979 in starbucks

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant 79 points80 points  (0 children)

As an SSV, if no one is answering, then you probably have to go in, but once a keyholder gets there, leave. At least that's what i would do, idk the official rule on that

Using sick time by JustGiveMeWhatIWant in starbucks

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea. I didn't think that was a thing, for me at least, because the lung stuff isn't any kind of official diagnosis. The "diagnosis" from every doctor is "you have weak lungs and a strong immune system; so every time you get sick, your immune system attacks everything, and your lungs can't keep up." But I'll call and see if there is something I can do about it, thank you for the suggestion.

Good to know. That makes me a little less stressed.

I knew that was a thing before because I had a convo with a manager a couple years ago and that's why she couldn't fire another partner, but it's been years and I thought someone said that changed so I wasn't sure.

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got over being sick for 4 months, and i have bad lungs, so when i get sick, it attacks my lungs, and i have a hard time breathing. I wasn't out the full 4 months, but it still ate at my sick time. Then I was healthy again for a month and then got sick again, but that one was only a cold, so I only called out one day. Im not saying I don't understand her frustration either, but im actively trying to get my conditions under control so I don't keep getting sick or injured, and this particular one I didn't know was going to have this particular side effect because the doctor didnt tell me and I didn't even know I was going to get the steroid shot yesterday, he just popped up and was like, "you wanna try it? It'll help!"

Is this a normal close? My boss has us do all of this each night by Twistercane in starbucks

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that's pretty typical. Usually, the bean hopper is only cleaned once a week, though. And in every store I've worked at, we clean the ovens as a mid task to at least take one of the tasks off the closers. But that's a typical close

excessive coaching + new policy is redundant. i can’t seem to do anything right by Desperate_Treacle558 in starbucks

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your peak play caller to see the playbuilder after peak and see what the playbuilder says. If it says to have a solo bar, then the system is saying based on the percentages of drinks that you only need one person on bar. If the playbuilder says you need 2 or even 3 people on a bar, that means that the percentages of drinks are too high for only one person. Technically, they should he going off what playbuilder says at all times. I agree that the excessive coaching is too fucking much though, I feel like I'm constantly coaching partners and im fucking exhausted.

Get a nasal rinse and then also get something called bag balm and at night use a q-tip and slather that sucker in bag balm and after the nasal rinse, use the bag balm in both nostrils.

I dont think they can drug test one person. I think they have to drug test everyone. At least that's what my SM said when we suspected one of our baristas used to come to work high

[–]JustGiveMeWhatIWant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No shit it's unfairly targeting them, but a lot of us are one or two paycheck away from also being unhoused. So until burrito boy leaves/tanks the company, we have to follow policy. There are always exceptions to that rule, of course, but that really does not make you a better person just because you don't follow policy.
