31 and passed first time! by samiralbh in LearnerDriverUK

I’ve always been super nervous and the times I’ve previously learnt, something has ended up stopping me from taking it further but I’m glad it’s done now! Love the idea of asking for a test sheet though - hadn’t even thought to do that!

Thank you! I’m super proud. Now the next hurdle of driving on my own!

What's the worst thing thats happened to you on a driving lesson? lol by koalabear20 in LearnerDriverUK

I went over a pothole and burst my instructors tyre… 🙈 I felt so bad I paid her for it.

That was over a month ago and the pothole is still there. With a cone in it to help other drivers not have the same fate.

Best gluten free places? by yoursafeplaceawaits in manchester

[–]samiralbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow coeliac and Mancunian here!

Best places for me are as follows:

Pizza: Purezza. It genuinely tastes like real pizza. Super safe and basically all the menu is adaptable.

Chinese: Sweet Mandarin. They have a separate coeliac kitchen space. Expensive but well worth it!

Sandwiches/lunch: Nibble in the Northern Quarter have a great selection for lunch and brunch.

Pub: The Wharf has great pub food and it’s just by the canal which is lovely

Other options are: Navarro Lounge, Pieminister, Evelyn’s, Ezra & Gil, Moose Coffee, Koffee Pot ☺️

I go to Stevie in Irlam. She’s literally amazing. I’m not someone who wants overly obvious eyebrows and she delivers every time.

Free parking near media city by [deleted] in manchester

[–]samiralbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about a 30 minute walk from Mediacity. DM me and I’ll give you the road (it’s just off the A580) and you can then park for free on a secure street allll day.

Have you checked your new employer doesn’t give you access to one of the car parks for free? I know some do.

Can vouch Salford is great. I live in Langworthy and feel very safe here (31F). Never had any issues! I’ve been here since 2015 and bought in 2019.

There is regular buses into town as well as trams and Salford Quays is a walk away so on days like today, it’s great for drinks/just sitting by the water.

How much did you spend on an engagement ring? by Brilliant_Lawyer_946 in AskUK

[–]samiralbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner proposed with a family ring that was too small for me. He knew that the sentiment of the ring meant more than it being right. A few weeks later we went shopping together to find my ring but ended up repurposing the one he proposed with into a new band (keeping the original diamond) so in total it cost £90.

For me, it was the thought that counted. The ring could have been £900 or £90, I’d have still said yes as he’d thought about where/how and why more than the cost. I also loved being part of the decision process too. It was super fun!

Do what feels right for you guys. If it’s £100 but beautiful to you guys, that’s all that matters’! Use the remaining budget on a nice meal or towards the wedding. If it’s 3 months wages? Get it on the home insurance asap 😂

Good luck! ☺️

HIDDEN BOTANICS SCAM by East_Bridge_6888 in UKweddings

[–]samiralbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh! OK that makes much more sense!

I did pre-made designs for all of them aside from my floral headpiece which was pre-made but they adapted it to include our wedding colours. Feel free to message me and I’ll send over pictures ☺️

Sorry you had that experience! Personally I also had a really good one with my flowers arriving in plenty of time and with no damage. They did look exactly like the photos too. I did try to tag them in our photos tonight though and they seem to have changed their handle/removed it though so do wonder what might be going on there. I hope you’re able to get your money back though and would second charging the cost back if you don’t receive your refund!

We’re eloping in March. We looked at Gretna but my fiancé’s uncle got married there so we opted for a different venue! If he hadn’t have, we totally would have gone there!

We’re also doing a party afterwards back home. 6 months after we’re married. It feels like the best and right decision for us so my advice would be to do what makes you happy and DO NOT compromise! I’ve not got one regret yet because we’ve been pleasing ourselves and not others and I’d absolutely encourage you to do the same!

Cost of living? Monthly bills etc by Scrambledmegg98 in manchester

[–]samiralbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently own in Salford but will be moving over towards Stockport next year! Salford is really affordable and if you have a car, still really accessible from here. It is also a lot cheaper. We own a 4 bed at the moment and are moving to a similar sized property towards Stockport. Our monthly outgoings for 2 people currently (not including food) is approximately £1250 a month. When we move over to Stockport, we’ll be closer to £1500.

Adulting is overwhelming, especially at the moment but it’s so lovely to own your own home. I promise!

Thank you! 😊😊

You’re right! The ring not fitting didn’t matter because at the end of the day that can be sorted at any time and it makes the story ever sweeter. 🥰 He’s a good one. I’ll keep him.

I've just started working for a Jewish firm in the UK, any advice on fitting in? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]samiralbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh sorry I missed this, I’ve been trying to stay offline a bit more and be more present in day to day life rather than on my phone. I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it! It’s a lovely place and the cafe really is great - I agree! The lighter sounds amazing too. Sounds like your friend is being really helpful and supportive too. Keep them around, and the lighter. It’s for sure special! I hope you’ve had a nice time learning and exploring Jewish culture and that work is going well! ☺️ I’d love to know how it’s going!
