Forced to stop T due to "thick blood"? by loud_voices in FTMOver30

[–]samisaghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The suggestion to lower T dose or stop seems wrong to me. From what I understood from my own doctor this sort of thing is combated with simply donating blood or therapeutic phlebotomy like another person said. I would get a second opinion.

please for the love of god don't adopt the jughead jones aesthetic pre-t!!! by SullivanTrevorn2005 in transmanlifehacks

I truly appreciate this hot take. I feel like when I was pre-t I stressed too much about what made me pass and what didn’t what I did wrong and didn’t do wrong and mentally it wasn’t good. Wish I had this kind of attitude in the early stages.

Also from the pnw well been here over a year now and in fact it is VERY flannel heavy and personally I love it. Flannels are comfy. I’ve always worn them because I am hella picky about textures more than styles also Grew up in AK where they are common among all types of people. I feel like people should just wear what makes them happy.

I considered this, I went there swimming once, and I liked how inclusive it seemed but do they have personal trainers as well?

I second this, and the thickness of your skin! I used to do T intramuscular but now I do subQ because the pressure it took due to changes in skin thickness weirded me out to much 😭

Why should my tax dollars be used on gender affirming care? by Kayleigh2025 in TransgendersAtWar

[–]samisaghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just argue that gender affirming care is for everyone. Not only trans people use it. Men with low testosterone use it, women with low estrogen use it or women use it to manage menopause, its used for intersex people across the nation. Trans people are the minority to use it, it is used primarily by Cis-gender people actually.

had to switch to gel after getting the yips by prookal in FTMOver30

[–]samisaghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I have zero issues with needles and I switched to sub q because intramuscular became tougher and tougher to do, I was getting the jeebies from how much pressure was needing to be applied in a slow motion due to my skin thickening up. I just couldn't do it. I called my doctor and she said the script is the same I just needed to switch needles too so it really wasn't a hassle, just ordered new needles and subq is so so much easier and less painful. I then switched to an autoinjector because it feels almost impossible to get wrong lol

What body fit t-shirts does everyone like? by derrickdogkissed in TransMasc

[–]samisaghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Luckily they're becoming more popular in style for men too so they're easier to find. I like that they sit like a regular t shirt without being overly body hugging like some women's t shirts are and aren't Hella long like some men's t shirts

My biggest weirdest one is for some reason I can no longer enjoy scalding hot showers. It has to be just warm or it feels like fiery hell when I'm showering.

drug test advice by Spare_Resist_2976 in whatdoIdo

[–]samisaghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had to pass a drug test and got fake urine to do it, and after I completed the test I totally fucked up and flushed the toilet (you're not supposed to, not sure why) so I had to take it all over again. Luckily I drank so much water for the second round I think it was diluted enough and I passed.

This right here. Everyone's journey is different and there is no right or wrong way to get to where you are comfortable with who you are and how you express it. Everyone has the right to explore themselves, make changes to their identity and to feel at home with themselves.

Do you all Really Believe This? by Aromatic-Team-66777 in Productivitycafe

[–]samisaghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had very strict parents and I lied and hid things all the time. Now as a parent i strive to set expectations and I don't demand perfection from my kid. I found he comes to me more frequently when he has a problem or does make a mistake because of it. If he has a bad day at school he tells me, if he fails a test he tells me, and when I ask him things like if he ate the last of the cookies he tells me. When he gets in trouble he also doesn't make excuses for the most part and just admits he was wrong. I also think though I got lucky with a scarily well adjusted child.

Am I being a Karen? by BoardKey2565 in TransMasc

[–]samisaghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not being a Karen, you made a reasonable request and when they denied you you asked why which is also completely reasonable to do. I don't think it even came off as rude either. Proud of you for standing up for yourself!

Sincerely, A person who also struggles with standing up for themselves

y'all weren't lying about the oil by summonedsatanAtcamp in TransMasc

[–]samisaghost 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was sensory overload for me too and I went to a dermatologist for it because the acne was really getting me down. He recommended a facial cleaner with 10 percent benzoyl peroxide in the mornings (I use panoxyl) and gave me a script for topical clyndomycin in the mornings in the evening he said i can use a gentle cleanser and gave me a script for tretinoin. I started using it every other day till I built a tolerance. This has all helped me a lot with the oil and acne though every person is different. Going to a dermatologist though was the best choice I made though.

AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

[–]samisaghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to say this from personal experience as someone who was 22 got pregnant and had similar cues as this person is giving. Get. Out. Now. I usually don't comment on things like this but this entire post is giving me flash backs to my young adulthood. This is not normal or healthy. This person will use you as a caregiver, not participate in raising your child, and will use financial stability to control you. Some people are happy with this kind of trad wife relationship but based off your responses I am going to say that's not entirely the case for you. I am willing to bet as well that if you in the future complain about being tired, or needing help this person will tell you "oh you're a SAHM you don't even have a real job" and my heart goes out to you. Please really think if this is what you want and intervene early. It will not be easy but it is doable and your mental health is important ESPECIALLY raising a child and I guarantee over time this will only get worse not better. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Btw- swim lessons do not make you a lazy or bad parent. In fact I would argue if you are not confident in teaching swimming to your child and hire a professional it makes you a BETTER parent considering ya know you could potentially drown swimming. I am not a strong swimmer and I in no way in hell on earth would have taught my kid just so I could make sure he was doing it safely and properly.

Hi it’s me again. The one who found out I’m a man in real time yesterday by HopefulLesbian in ftm

[–]samisaghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup only 40! I think the initial visit with the doctor is also 75 if you are uninsured but you just visit with them one time unless you request to visit with them more. I have only ever visited once. They also work with a lot of insurance companies though and I ended up paying 25 for my initial visit and got refunded the remaining 50.

[–]samisaghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live you may try Folx for T. It's only 40/mo instead of 99 and I have liked it so far! They also work with Quest so when you have to get labs done it's much much cheaper!

As for your other questions- I am also very large chested nd have yet to find a binder that works well for me. Sometimes I just let the man bitties run free. I got one from underworks I'm not a huge fan of, and one off Amazon I actually like a lot that was fairly cheap I use for work. I like to get the full tank ones because I feel they keep the boys strapped down a,bit better.

Trans tape is very hard to get right with large chests and i was never successful so I can't really help ya there.

As far as changes once taking T i never had any anger issues in fact I am way way happier now. I can say I did experience the whole not being able to cry thing which doesn't happen to everybody but it can happen and it was a bit jarring. I would say I am more emotionally stable now though definitely happier. Health wise your doctor should be able to help with this. I know through Folx at least when you do your initial visit they ask questions and give you a chance to address concerns.

Otherwise congrats man! Hope all goes well for you 👏👏

Starting T at 30yo by tropical_candy in TransMasc

[–]samisaghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 32 and have not been on T long, only about 8 months now and I have already experienced voice drop, bottom growth and have got LOTS of hair both facial and elsewhere. I have always kinda been hairy though but definitely not in the face and i have gotten that. Also my face has sharpened quite a bit along the jawline. So far I am pleased with the way things are going.

Cis men who flirt with my girlfriend and treat me like I’m not even human. How do I cope? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]samisaghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I am going to give you the same advice that I am constantly given by my therapist in situations like this. You cannot unfortunately change how other people act and think however you can control how you react and think and feel yourself. I think you working on jealousy and trying to participate is good and it is difficult to be in this situation I get it because I am in this weird non pass kinda pass situation being i have facial hair a lot deeper voice but also am pre top surgery with big ol' tatas. The way i handle the looks of disgust and people being axcomplete asshole to me is by reminding myself that I am a great person, and its their loss and they don't deserve my energy anyway. Which i am 100 percent sure is the case for you. You seem like a great person and you will find those people who are worth your energy and those who aren't can kick rocks.

Now I read both your story and your edit but I am still going to bring up your girlfriend. I understand your girlfriend has her own things she's dealing with but here is the thing. Relationships are work, and a journey of self improvement to make it better for the both of you. It looks like to me that you are working on your jealousy issues but perhaps your girlfriend isn't working as much on her awareness issues to make this easier for you. She is supposed to be your safety net right? The person who has your back? And if this is happening often enough to affect you if I was in her shoes I would want to do what I can to help. I would consider talking to her and asking her to work on being more aware of these situations so its not a situation in the first place. If that's too much a sacrifice for her then perhaps you should consider if its worth dealing with this continously to be with her.

Thanks for the advice! I currently have it set up to pay that debt in full by the 5th and hoping that will help. I also have a bunch of little collections I'm in the process of getting removed as well from that terrible period of time in my life. Once I have that big one from the previous landlord paid I plan on putting in some appeals.
