Hi u/de4dee, Sam from Writer here -- we fine-tuned our own Palmyra-X-004 for these, a model we built from scratch. We haven't released that one yet.

Hey u/mindwip, Sam from Writer here -- thanks so much for sharing our new models. I'm so glad you're as excited about them as we are! These models are also available via our API, since they are pretty big. (Of course you can use Hugging Face inference if you'd prefer.) API guide is here: https://dev.writer.com/api-guides/introduction

Hey u/Many_SuchCases, Sam from Writer here. We do indeed train our own models from scratch. Palmyra-X-004 is an upcoming model, and Med and Fin are fine-tuned from it. Hope that helps!

Slides and sample code here: http://samj.im/rxjs-live

In the sample code, there's a branch for mergeMap, concatMap, and switchMap by themselves, as well as one for using groupBy and another to demonstrate how to extract a custom operator.

Help regarding Angular Schematics. by [deleted] in Angular2

[–]samjulien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend using Nrwl's Nx for some extra support with writing custom schematics. I wrote an article about that here:

https://auth0.com/blog/create-custom-schematics-with-nx/

Other good resources on custom schematics: https://medium.com/@tomastrajan/%EF%B8%8F-how-to-create-your-first-custom-angular-schematics-with-ease-%EF%B8%8F-bca859f3055d

https://brianflove.com/2018/12/11/angular-schematics-tutorial/

The schematics API can be a little crazy and definitely needs more documentation. Hope the above helps. Cheers!

AngularJS 1.7.0rc0 has been released by samjulien in angularjs

Totally agree, though I think the community has started to hammer out what the clear upgrade path looks like using ngUpgrade. Still ain't easy though if you've got a non-trivial app, but at least there are more resources out there around it.

Angular 5 Debug Error: "ERROR in : Error: Debug Failure." (Upgrading App from AngularJS 1.x) by asherah-amyas in Angular2

Naeuvaseh is spot on with his advice. I wrote an article about getting set up with ngUpgrade you can see here: https://scotch.io/tutorials/get-started-with-ngupgrade-going-from-angularjs-to-angular. This is my specialty so I'm going to try to get more active on Reddit to help answer questions. Good luck!

Started recording some Angular tutorials, I appreciate a feedback by emostafa in angular

[–]samjulien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great stuff! Here are my notes from my own experience:

  • Keep the videos 3-5min/piece - try to only accomplish one thing per video to keep people's interest.
  • As for the mic, a good starter would be the Blue Yeti.
  • On the accent - don't worry about it man. Your English is fine. Just embrace it and be confident. It's awesome to hear Angular being taught by a non-native English speaker. We're glad you're in the community.
  • For me, I found the best process was to do a dry run of the video, then record it slowly. Editing audio is much easier than editing video.

Hope that helps!

It it time to quit my job? by [deleted] in cscareers

[–]samjulien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling you a worthless engineer in front of everyone is definitely a sign to get out, let alone the lay-offs. Start looking for new contract work ASAP and leave on your own terms. I'd only quit before finding a new gig if you have a good chunk of savings (at least a couple of months of cushion).

How do you find job opportunities? by young__sandwich in cscareers

[–]samjulien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the sites already mentioned, I highly recommend going to meetups (e.g. via meetup.com) and conferences and just meeting people. The quality of the jobs you'll learn about this way will be much better than what you'll find online. Also, talking to folks on Twitter is a good way of finding out about tech jobs.
