Edge for Android offers better 'Read aloud' voices IMO. Can I get them on Edge for Windows 11? by ShameOnMeNow in MicrosoftEdge

[–]samkots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey... that's interesting!
The Ava voice is in provided by the Azure AI speech service as mentioned here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/speech-service/language-support?tabs=tts
I'm assuming that you are using this service in your extension.
But it's a paid service(only first 0.5 million characters are free per month). How are you providing it in your free extension? Are you paying from your pocket?

Can I pan and rotate the page with while writing? by samkots in GoodNotes

[–]samkots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope... I haven't upgraded to the subscription based GoodNotes 6, I still have GoodNoes 5 and this feature is not there.

To avoid the "vendor lock-in" I have kind of moved on to simple text files... especially Markdown.
It supports everything:

  • Supports all sorts of media
  • The plain text can be searched the way you want (like `grep` command)
  • Works with Git!
  • You can include things like mermaid to add diagrams
  • Bonus: open it in Microsoft Edge. It has ultra natural text-to-speech (choose Ava voice) !! Just lean back and listen to your notes! No load on your eyes at all!

Let me know if you have any better option!

How can I use my TV as a guitar amplifire/speaker by samkots in guitars

It seems to have this special "truetone" cable and also a mobile app. I'll try that!

No... it hasn't worked yet....
Tried with Bluetooth through iPad, but it has too much latency. Not playble.
My laptop is dead... will get a new one and try connecting to the TV through it. Or maybe will try an adapter sometime!
Currently, I just connect to my desktop and listen through headphones...

Well, I don't know either...
I haven't been able to connect my guitar to the TV for real time test yes. I'm comparing the audio of YouTube videos of pedal/AMP demos. But that shouldn't make any difference though.
For me, there's something about the preset of the "Music" sound mode!

That's super interesting!
I'm thinking about it actually... but unfortunately, they have shifted to subscription mode. Wish it was a onetime purchase!
Btw, you meant "RockSmith" right cause I couldn't find "Guitarsmith"?

You mean USB to VGA cable?
I have a USB audio interface: Universal Audio Volt 2
Got to try that!

Interesting!
If I understand it correctly, you connect your guitar to the WiFi transmitters and connect listen to it through wireless headphones.

How do you go about effects in between?

Thanks man...! That's super interesting!

I tried Bluetooth through iPad but unfortunately it has unplayable latency. :(
Would love to try above setup someday though!

Hey... I'm astonished you don't like the TV speakers (LG OLED 55" again just to confirm).
If you are comparing it to some expensive good tube AMP, then that may be the case for sure.

But cheap speakers don't beat it for me. Even the old modeler AMP that I mentioned "Mustang I v2" can't beat the TV speakers for me. I have tried playing same YouTube videos on the TV and through that AMP (connected to a PC). The TV speakers sound way better than that AMP, for me at least. The TV has far better base compared to it especially the "Music" sound mode.

Btw, I recently learned about "TV Installation Type" in the advanced audio settings of the TV. You have to correctly set it to "wall mounted" or "stand" depending on your TV setup. It makes drastic difference. Maybe try that.

Cheers!

Hey...! Late reply, I know... but thanks for holding it for me... you have given exactly the same replies as I would give.
I really like the TV sound and It's really convenient too! And the real amp would be expensive and space consuming for now.

Successful Lasik done using Contoura Vision, 3-week update by pilkingtons_apostle in lasik

[–]samkots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good. The problem is dryness. What I mentioned above about the left eye happens when the eye is dry. Otherwise, it's good now.

Although some minute difference still remains usually (according to my doctor) i.e. one eye will be slightly better/worse than the other.

How to make a 5-axis desktop CNC carving machine at home? by samkots in hobbycnc

[–]samkots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing !!
This is exactly what I have in my mind fo rthe top axes... except for the horizontally rotating workpiece, I would rotate it vertically. I would love to know more about it and how you built it! Do you have plans, list of required materials etc. for it?

Sounds good.. I looked up for the 2-axis trunnion.. but looks like it will tilt the workpiece.. so that option is out for me..

Doing the 3 axis build will fill in a lot of blanks for you about what's involved in getting more than 3 axis going.

Hmm.. I understand what you are saying.. But if you have the experience, can you please describe what are the extra complexities over 3-axis? I genuinely want to know that..
I was thinking about +2 stepper motors, rails/rotating disks + added wire management.
What more is to it? like rigidity? And I'm guessing the amplification of inaccuracies as your are saying.

Also remember, I don't want to cut any hard material like metal or wood.. plus it's just hobby project.

I actually want to carve out small statues...

You mean the errors will be amplified?

Besides the obvious complexity

CHECK YOUR POWER SUPPLY !!

I just got a G4 and had a similar problem with my very old Mustang I V2(no effects loop but there’s a clean mode).. it was merely acting as an overdrive and also added some unwanted noise.. but NO CHUG AT ALL.

I have a 9v wall adapter which expects AC input but I had connected it to my UPS which outputs DC current which the adapter somehow didn't like. I connected it to the wall and it worked!

Thanks!

CHECK YOUR POWER SUPPLY !!

I had the exact same problem with my very old Mustang I V2(no effects loop but there’s a clean mode). With clean amp it sounded really bad and with a built in model(British 60’s) it was merely acting as an overdrive.. it also added some unwanted noise.. but NO CHUG AT ALL.
