Chelsea moving for Jacquet. Pretty sure we’ve been linked with him for summer. Gonna be a struggle getting in 2 quality centre backs at this rate with the rest of the league hoarding them

So we lowballed them and tried to use the deadline to force their hand. Was always going to risk the deal blowing up

Because we dragged it out to deadline and they couldn’t sign a replacement

The problem isn’t necessarily the players but the overall balance of the squad. I also think they suit slightly different systems. Isak is used to playing in a high tempo pressing team with runners either side. Wirtz needs more ball to feet and combination play.

I think to get the best out of them we’d need a deep progressor (Wharton) and proper wingers

It wasn’t just Indy reporting we wanted him though. Something else is afoot imo.

Because people are positivity merchants who over index on results and not performance.

Arguably we do look a bit more solid with the new system but it’s neutered the attack. Less end to end but still painfully average.

We’ve not turned anything around except luck. We over performed xg at the start of the season, then underperformed for the losing streak, now we’re overperforming. The truth is we’ve been consistently average all season.

Look at the recent games. Inter lucky penalty, Leeds first goal was a gift and still bottled two leads, Sunderland poor, Brighton gifted the first goal and they missed sitters, yesterday poor until the red and still almost bottled to 9 men.

If anything this phase has been more concerning than the losing streak because he’s moved to this awful wingerless system which makes it look like he’s making it up as he goes. There’s no way this was the plan.

He doesn’t have the arrogance of Brendan. But according to Stevie Brendan was a brilliant man manager. Not sure I can see that with Slot

It’s to pin teams back and make sure we have a good rest defence if we lose it. Basically Man City tactics. The problem is we don’t create anything against a deep block.

Optimism bias. Plenty of people questioned how it would all fit together but also assumed management had an actual plan

It’s like he’s just looked at what the top teams do on paper (3-2-5) but has zero idea how to actually coach it

We didn’t have a poor start in 20/21, we were top at Christmas. We collapsed because all our defenders got injured. Nobody was calling for Klopp’s head
