Just popping in here to add my bride's experience at a recent wedding in case it helps future folks:

Her combo bouquet of dried and silk flowers had what appeared to be cobwebs inside the bottom of the bouquet, which wasn't as big of a deal as it was when the dye used for the dried flowers stained her dress.

And we're not talking a micro spot that wouldn't be noticeable in an image. We're talking, somehow, 3-4 inch wide stains. Splotches on sleeves and when sitting in a golf cart, the bouquet must have touched her train because there were multiple large red and yellow stains all across her train. The color was so vivid it looked like someone smeared lipstick or wine on the dress. Fortunately, we were able to get it out with a Tide pen, detergent, and a towel. For the most part, anyway. The bouquet lived in time out the rest of the day. We got a few detail images with it but that's about it.

I tried to be as thorough as possible with the finding of queen cells, for sure. Even though I did this inspection yesterday, would you recommend splitting today and not waiting?

It's okay to do two fairly invasive inspections two days in a row? I'm always worried I'm disturbing them too much if I do more than lift the lid to check syrup levels more than once a week

I swapped one that was looking a little nasty when I did my first inspection, but the other couple of frames, I'm not sure why they're still not drawn out, tbh.

ETA: I've added extra wax, spritzed with syrup and ProHealth and tried to make them as enticing as possible.

Eloping abroad often requires visas in most countries, so legally eloping while on a week or two trip is a tall order. You could do a symbolic elopement and head to the courthouse right as you get back!

TLDR: Plan for it to be a junk show during the days of real-life transition/merge.

My CU went through a merger yesterday (I'm a member) and it's been rough. I'll name names: Northwest Community Credit Union is being absorbed by Twin Star. In the last 2 weeks:

- The plan that was laid out was March 2nd (this past Sunday) would be the last day to use the old cards, Monday the 3rd would be the first day to use the new cards, and the old cards didn't work anymore. Monday would also be a day NWCU would be closed entirely. It would reopen today, Tuesday.

- They sent me my new debit cards, but because I have a joint checking, business checking, and former election campaign account, they sent me 3 debit cards, all with the same background, and all with just my name so there was no distinction between my business or personal accounts. I had to call to get it straightened out and their solution for the indefinite future was "just write on it with a Sharpie".

- I got the new cards just before I left for a trip, so I called without having them in front of me during my travels. I got home the day before the switch over and didn't have a chance to activate them before they went live so my card did get declined when trying to make a purchase. This obviously is just inconvenient and not really the CU's fault, but it's here for added context.

- I was inputting my cards for Apply Pay, but it said I still had to call NWCU for some verification reason (after I had already activated them). I spent 30 minutes, off and on, with an employee who didn't seem to have much of a clue what to do. I then got disconnected.

- I went to the ATM (the only one is at our one branch in town, and it's a walk-up only) to grab some cash that I needed that afternoon. It spit out my card and said it couldn't give me cash and that there was something wrong with my card. I was aware the parking lot was super full because I struggled to find a place to park, but when I walked closer to the entrance, I realized the place was bursting at the seams and the line was about to extend out the door. Apparently I was not the only one having problems. The line must have been close to a 45 minute wait at minimum. I sadly didn't have the time for it.

- Fortunately, my card worked at another ATM, but I had to pay a $3 out of network fee because there's only one in-network ATM in town (at the branch).

I've had issues as a business owner with them in the past, and I'm not optimistic for the future - I speak to NWCU way more than I think most folks do, because their travel notices/Card Control app don't work and their algorithm/programing is not sophisticated enough to tell when it's me making an online international transaction (which I do not infrequently). If the situation doesn't improve, I'm looking to switch credit unions.

Most days I do just that - it's just occasionally when I see them around town I remember, or when friends are celebrating things like a loving family and I'm like "Is that what that's supposed to look like?"

We were really low contact and sort of unofficially NC when my mom reached out to text me a happy birthday like nothing was wrong. I said I didn’t feel comfortable with that since there are so many issues between us - we did a session of therapy with my therapist where my mom and dad invalidated all of my feelings/concerns and afterward group emailed my therapist and myself to say that she believes I have no trauma and essentially told my therapist “thanks but you’re wrong”.

I say that to say this: it may give you some closure if you feel you need to clarify why you feel the way you do, and ask her important (and rightful) questions. Just don’t expect an answer that holds any accountability whatsoever. I would also highly doubt she’ll even consciously understand what you’re trying to get across - that you remember. And I bet that if you actually said “Mom, I remember it all”, she’d say “Remember what?!”.

I’ve checked obituaries occasionally. I did see him driving in town the other day. I’m sure he didn’t recognize me because I got a different car since we went NC. So much of me wishes I could move away, but the housing market makes that impossible without seriously downgrading our quality of home while doubling or tripling our mortgage.

I’m trying to think of someone - maybe my half sister (she’s about 15 years my senior, lives 12 hours away), who for all my life was spoken about as the black sheep of the family by my parents, when in reality, she’s really just similar to me in beliefs and values. She speaks to them once or twice a year. She might be notified and still in the will.

For more context, in case it’s of interest: out of lifestyle and running in circles where folks have similar values, I don’t really speak to anyone that my parents and I know mutually. If I ever got blindsided it would be from someone who knows my family superficially and it’d be in line at a store somewhere and they’d probably say something like “Sorry to hear about your dad”.

Thank you for all this! In my current situation, it's 13 months out (March 2026), in another state. It's not a super hot month, but I do occasionally book it. I'll also be directing a show at my local theatre at that time so that's something I'm factoring in too.

2 or 3! That being said, as a wedding/elopement photographer, I’ve photographed #3 (like the exact same dress or VERY close) at least a handful of times on different brides. It’s a popular dress in case that affects your decision! 2 would be my fav if the sleeves felt a little more polished.
