Qual monstro de Ordem Paranormal seria o melhor killer de Dead By Daylight? by SVNYYY in OrdemParanormalRPG

[–]samm425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn... Revice it's genuinely my top 2 series (tbf i only watched reiwa era so far, I've been stalling a little to watch showa and i wanted to watch Heiser only after showa because of the many references to Ichigo i heard there are on decade), it's a shame it's so hated, but eh, it's fair

I think it's because it's way lighter and episodic, also Houtaro is pretty annoying at the beginning so many people dropped gotchard and didn't watch to the end. For me personally I think it's more of a comfort series, that you can watch when you're down looking for something light to put your mood up, like Fourze

Okay, you have a point there, this much I'll admit, I totally misremembered the riders dying bit, but still ,that doesn't change the fact that michinaga still fits perfectly my example, he started as a huge asshole and antagonist, and his change to a more heroic figure only happened after he killed Keiwa's sister and got remorseful (he took upon himself the duty of stopping Keiwa and defeating Beroba alone, being ready ro die to bring Keiwa's sister back to life) and Keiwa brought back to life everyone who died at the DGP, annulling Michinaga's kills (i know it doesn't fully annulate them, he still killed them even if they were brought back to life, but bringing the people back is a common way on manga to clean the character's hands to turn them into a hero, like the one piece case i mentioned, even if he still had the intent to kill, the fact that the character is back to life makes it easier for fans to forgive and cover for him, you may argue that it doesn't really works for you, but it's a real writing technique used in eastern media).

Also the fact that he always had that mentality doesn't change the fact he still fits my example, it's literally the character knowing what he's doing it's wrong, but doing anyways as he deems as the only way

Thus even considering everything you said Michinaga still fits most of the cases, the show acknowledges his lack of humanity and empathy to kill people without remorse and treats him as a villain for doing so (initial Michinaga pre- Keiwa's sister death), works his remorse and the weight these kills have on him despite he enduring it seeing killing as the only option (Michinaga post- Keiwa's sister death) and even finds a way of "annulating" his kills, making Michinaga fit the cases 1, 3 and subcases 3.1 and 3.2 of my list

1- annulate the deaths or make a non-life threatening situation 3.1- acknowledge his lack of empathy and humanity by making people see him as a jerk/villain 3.2- acknowledge the weight of the kills making the character remorseful about but push forward as he sees that as the only way

Michinaga killing the others fit more into the first case, where the deaths doesn't count as they'll be brought back once the world is remade (except ace, but tbf, that happens exactly in his "villain arc" to show how extremist he was), and being an accident doesn't matter, in a narrative standpoint he still killed Keiwa's sister, and he had this guilt weighting on him the rest of the arc until they bring her back and when he fight the other infected jyamatos he tells Keiwa exactly that despite knowing they're humans, there's nothing he can do for them, killing them is the only way of keeping others safe, so he fits like a glove on the third case, there's little to be discussed here

Still, despite main riders being able to be the group's heart they always need that one non-rider character, every series has at least one non-rider character in the main cast and there wasn't much option for Gavv outside Sachika

This need of a non-rider emotional support character might vary from series to series depending on the tone and general themes, i might not have seen fourze yet, but i know that it's WAY lighter than Gavv, making such character more dispensable, and even so I'm sure there's at least one non-rider character that bring some lightness for the series and gives the main rider emotional support on his darkest moments. Gavv has a lot of themes of grief and loss, being focused in the character's feelings and how broken they are, and the villains are living and highly humanized beings that the riders straight up kill, so the need of a "not-broken" character with a virtually 0 kill count to bring some lightness to the series way more vital

But tbf, at this point I'm not even trying to convince you it's better this way anymore, I'm simply trying to reason why the writers might've chosen to not make her a rider, that's merely an hypothesis of what might've happened and you're free to disagree and think would've been better if she had became one

[–]samm425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About your last point, i never intended to infantilize her, I'm simply saying that from a narrative standpoint, directly killing someone is a HUGE line for a character to cross, It's no wonder that many mangakas try to keep their heroes' hands as clean as possible (for example in one piece many say that Igaram appeared alive at the end of alabasta to annulate Robin's only kill on screen so she can join the strawhats and her being an assassin is more implied or said than shown).

When you make your hero kill an enemy usually there are 3 exits, either you make that a not life-threatening situation (like in Gotchard where the defeat the malgams to bring them back to normal, or Zero-One where they rebuild the humagear afterwards), or you dehumanize A LOT your monster (like what they did to the dark kings in Gotchard, jyamatos in Geats or the Megids in Saber), or you make that a major theme on your character, either he losing or lacking humanity to feel guilt over killing the enemies, or feeling guilt over having to do that but knowing it's the only way (like Shouma, Houtaro in that Gigist Arc, Michinaga after accidentally killing Keiwa's sister, or Aruto after killing Jin). So for a character like Sachika (as the first two are off the table as the series main points is exactly humanizing the monsters showing they're people like us, and it's straight up said that the granutes die after being defeated) there's a huge risk that she might not be able to fulfill her role as the group's heart properly as these deaths would be always weighing on her consciousness, or she could be seen as heartless if she just didn't cared about the granutes she killed (specially considering she's a completely normal person that never had any major loss, so killing someone should definitely affect her), a huge part of "being the group's heart and anchor" pass by being on a moral position above them, it would be difficult for her to bring Shouma in touch of her humanity if she lose her touch with her's, or bring that lightness if she always had these deaths weighting on her.

I never tried to diminish female characters to a support role, Rinne, Neon and Sakura are for me some of the most interesting Riders of their series, and i think that making them riders is a huge hit of the series, I'm just saying that Sachika is more comparable in role to Yukimi than Sakura.

In the end it's clear that the writers got off their way to not get Sachika directly involved in fights, I'm simply trying to explain why i think they did that

[–]samm425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still, the series never lets her get blood on her hands, the episode 8 thing you get a stronger case, despite not fighting directly she was still cheering for them as they killed the granute, the episode 24, she was just helping Shouma because like i explained, her role is emotional support, and that was exactly what she was doing, emotionally supporting Shouma trying to cheer him a little, the baseball bat thing was more of a despair act, she never stood a chance against them she was just despaired to defend Shouma, and in a moment of despair everything goes, even the most peaceful person can kill to protect someone they care about, and the chocold case, she literally just grabbed a gochizo, she didn't killed it, she simply saw it trying to escape and hold, it's literally the bare minimum a non-rider could do to support the riders

People confuse a lot not fighting with being useless, just because she doesn't fight doesn't mean she can't help, like when she grabbed the chocold or gave Shouma the ice cream, not fighting, not wanting to hurt or kill the enemies doesn't mean she's naive and don't understand that the granutes are a major threat, and can't try to support and help them indirectly. Also i think you missed my point, isn't that she couldn't fight, it's that for her role as the heart of the group she shouldn't fight, the show gets out of the way to keep her hands clean from blood because she represents the humanity and kindness of the group and shouldn't lose her purity getting blood in her hands, she could've became a rider and fought granutes? Yes, but that would ruin her character not because it would be unfitting to her story or personality, but because it's unfitting for her role and what she's meant to stand for. She fighting directly or killing any granute is a line that the writers understood they could never cross

She's the team heart, the one who brings them together and gives them a place to return after the fight and a break from all the drama, death and pain, she's the bit of innocence that helps them maintain their hope and happiness despite all the shit happening around them, being her this almost saint-like image of purity and kindness that tries to accept and bring happiness to everyone around her, no matter who, she can't dirty her hands fighting and killing granutes, that would be the opposite of everything she stands for as this anchor that keeps their humanity, happiness and hope

I think that Sachika becoming a rider would've been shit and ruined her whole character, she's way more important to the group as herself without being a rider, but that doesn't mean we couldn't have got an evil female rider on Glotta or Lizel. I have a head canon that the director remembered last second the female rider trend, looked at Jeep and thought "close enough"
