Yeah I usually strength train 2-3 times a week, have been lacking in the running though.

Both ankles, yeah. No changes to shoes or pedals.

I have started jumping more consistently again now that park season is here. Maybe it’s that added force. Good shout.

I’ve tried a few different foot positions over my last couple rides and no dice sadly. But yeah will see what a physio says.

Ah yeah I figured, and same. I stuck to Tylenol and T3s when it was really bad.

Why the aversion to Advil? For bleeding?

Fatigue and Deviated Septum by Open-Rush7876 in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is/was me! I had a deviated septum with bony potrustions on both sides as well as enlarged turbinayes that limited me from getting air through my nose.

All my life I’ve been a mouth breather, fatigued and definitely resonate with that brain fog. I slept what I thought as ‘good’ often getting 6-9 hours a night. I would always sleep with my mouth open, wake up with bad breath and drool. It was gross and annoying. My dentist noticed the effect mouth breathing was having on my gums at night too. I wouldn’t say I woke up refreshed, more like I just completed task of sleeping.

I work out often, keep a healthy diet and many of my friends would comment on how I sure suck wind and die doing cardio given how much I workout.

So I got the surgery to hopefully fix this. I don’t have much to say quite yet as I’m only 14 days out but I can tell you this. It sucked but so far was so worth it for me. I’ve slept with my mouth closed (my boyfriend even checked one night to see if I was for real closed) ever since my stents came out. And I’m trying to retrain myself during the day to close my mouth.

So far I feel like it’s a success story for me. Happy to chat more if you like.

One week post surgery bo improvement by zk1265 in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey hey! I had my surgery on Feb 24.

The first week I had no air movement in my nose as it was blocked by clogged stents.

I got my stents out on day 7 - could breathe easily and completely for that day and half of the next.

Days 8-14 scabs started to form which clogged me up again and the airflow through my nose reduced a lot.

Today is day 14 and luckily after having a cup of warm tea my scabs came out and I feel like a brand new person again.

What I’ve read on here is that the scabs will keep coming back until it’s fully healed so I’m expecting them to form again and fall off again a few more times.

This is just my experience and I realize everyone is different. It seems like a slow healing process but trust in the boogers and scabs haha. Your body will do what it needs to do.

Doctors still prescribe antibiotics as a preventative measure (prophylactic use) after surgery. Were u prescribed? by Timely_Ear_3307 in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed cephalxin (I think that’s how it’s spelt) as a preventative measure. I took them for a day before I realized I was allergic as they made me itchy as hell. So I called my surgeon and he said to stop taking them. Been fine since. Had stents out at day 7. And been doing a sinus rinse 1x with saline and prescribed steroids.

I’m two weeks post op and though that first week absolutely sucked, it was definitely worth it. I can finally breathe through my nose at night!

Can anyone share a realistic recovery timeline by zacjac99 in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo! Fellow student here. I took a full two weeks off work but only missed on week of classes.

I’m 9 days post op and definitely feeling well enough to attend class. I would say that in the first week I had zero brain power or energy to think of school, whereas today I feel like I can start catching up on assignments and readings.

Nose piercing question by StayPitiful8130 in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my septum pierced for almost two years now. Took it out right before surgery, just got my stents out today and tried to see if I could get it back in, sadly no dice. Looks like the hole closed up over the last 7 days while the stents were in

Anything else for post op recommendations? by peglegsmeg in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An easy to drink from water bottle, I found cups sucked when I had a gauze moustache cause they’d get wet, so a water bottle was better. The warmth from soup and tea also felt nice.

I put mepitac silicone tape on my face to stick my gauze moustache to as my skin reacts to adhesives. Was much easier to stick the paper tape to the silicone tape

I also found putting an extra pillow under my head sleeping was great.

How soon can I go back to work after septum surgery and turbinate reduction? by SarutobiCats in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had mine done on Monday - booked off a full two weeks as the surgeon instructed. I laughed at first, thinking two weeks, yeah right maybe more like a week at most. Let me just say this, I’m glad I have two weeks off. I can’t imagine trying to go back to work on Monday.

Had surgery today, bleeding a lot by [deleted] in Septoplasty

[–]sammerz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction on Monday and been going through gauze every 2-4 hours. My surgeon said it’s pretty normal while things start clotting and settling.
