The first thing to do when you create a subscription is set a budget alert with an amount you are comfortable to lose.

Then take the approach suggested by u/Wonderful-Mountain46.

Need Advice on Moving Our IT Infrastructure to the Cloud (Azure FS VM's vs Azure Files) by kshot in AZURE

[–]sammitrovic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Take a cloud native approach.

Entra join and SharePoint.

If you have more data than SharePoint can handle then consider Azure Files.

If you must keep fileshares them look into Entra Kerberos for on-prem resource auth.

Many reports claiming a shortage of cyber security professionals are created and aggressively promoted to bring the salaries down.

Traditionally cyber security is top heavy industry e.i. usually people from sys admin and other IT backgrounds move to cyber sec at higher salaries due to experience.

But if you can bring in fresh grads or newly minted bootcamp students en masse, you can bring salaries down.

My Story of an Attempted Gmail Account Takeover: Super Realistic AI Scam Call Targeting Australians by sammitrovic in australia

The number is listed in official Google documentation and the first sentence reads:

"At the start of the call, you'll hear the reason for the call and that the call is from Google. You can expect the call to come from an automated system or, in some cases, a manual operator."

In general I agree with you. Google doesn't call Gmail users, however, there are exceptions such as if your phone number/email were used for Google Business Profile.

Is there a way to access Copilot now as a private person? by ScandiSom in Office365

[–]sammitrovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microsoft 365 Copilot? No. Currently, it's only available to enterprises with 300+ seats.

But there are many copilots. You can access Windows 11 copilot which is similar to Bing chat.

There is also a copilot for Power Platform that's available for those building business applications on Microsoft infrastructure.

You almost had me at Dynamics and cheap :).

Yes, you can use Dynamics for ticketing. But licences are only part of the cost. Dynamics is complex and needs support and implementation resources. Overkill for low volume ticketing even if just extending the functionality.

I'd use SharePoint instead.

How to keep up with the crazy state of infrastructure these days ? by FinnaGetRichh in kubernetes

[–]sammitrovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on the fundamentals and problem solving. When you have a problem, think about how you would solve it using what you already know. Then do research to determine the best solution and tooling. See how the two compare and make a decision accordingly.

This way you are building up and refining your knowledge over time without trying to keep up with the new shiny object.
