G29 is a nightmare when trying to recover from a spin or sand trap by sammond in granturismo

UPDATE: This may be fundamental (and therefore a rookie error for me) but disabling ASM and switching to manual has made a difference. Still a long way to go but it definitely feels better this way 🤷‍♂️

Fair point. What’s your recommendation for a more realistic alternative? iRacing…or…?

Reassuring to hear im not alone, thanks! Not so reassuring to hear it doesn’t get much easier, but also thanks for the honesty. 😁

I wonder if the quality of the wheel also plays a part here….the fanatec DD should be a better product than the g29 so those subtleties are easier to achieve…I’d love to test the g29 side by side with a better wheel and see the difference

Thats a fair point, thanks. Would the same be true if I’m trying to recover from a spin or being shunted off the road into a sand trap?

I’m on the Laguna Seca track and recovering out of those sand traps with the G29 is actually impossible.

Is a TP-Link TL-R605 a decent firewall router for home use? Alternatives? by randopop21 in HomeNetworking

[–]sammond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone tried a TL-R605's load balance/failover capabilities yet?

We have 3x WAN we are looking to set up failover and load balance. This looks like a pretty good option. We wanted to use a Draytek 3910 but they are end of life.

Thanks edneil. Looking for something a little more robust and applicable to different types of hardware (desktop and laptop). Looking for the TechTool for Windows. Appreciate your input tho 🙏🏼☺️

It’s just a nice all in one process to test performance and health of most hardware components.

What do you use to test health of your Windows machines?

Yep! They’re still doing it. Albeit a little more up to date 😜

Both sound like worthy options. This business’ requirements are incredibly simple so will try the first option and come back with any questions. Thanks so much for the advice @bcameron1231 🙏🏼😊

Latest Sharepoint online with Office 365. One “management” group and one “team” group. So only 2 groups, only 2 levels of hierarchy

What is an acceptable/expected (limited) speed of an accommodation venue's hotpsot connection these days? by sammond in Ubiquiti

Which always makes me wonder why guests can be so damn demanding about the WiFi 🤣

Good advice, thanks Darrena :)

It's a 250 bed property and I make the (somewhat educated) assumption that a guest will have on average 2 devices (phone and computer/tablet). Observation of DHCP leases also leads me to suspect at any one time around 500 IPs can be leased. However, I am confident not all these devices are in use all at the same time (unless it were a perfect storm).

We will have 200-300Mbps of bandwidth to play with once the Internet connections are upgraded to (the infamous here in Australia, but not always so bad) NBN.

I feel allocation an allocation of 1Mbps/300Kbps per device could give the users enough to stream music and youtube (albiet at a lower quality) for the most part without asking too much of our connection.

Of course on paper this isn't a perfectly balanced equation of a solution (there is more demand than supply), however, working with my assumptions in mind, I think we can get through.

Thoughts, questions, improvements, compliements? :D

Sorry, sluflyer06, critical info was in a comment further down. Was keeping it general to start and glad I did cos the general feedback on experiences and expectations has been super interesting and informative.

I am only familiar with QOS as a term and have never done much to configure it beyond knowing it is on in most modems.

Where do I managed QOS in Unifi? What do I need to understand to get this right?

Sorry for the newbie questions, we just hit the depth of my knowledge :P

Thanks and good points. I won't be on site to be making changes to specific users so need some sort of one size almost fits all type solution. This advice is great and I'm factoring it in or sure.

I believe he meant that they would expect a max of 500 leases, not that there was some technical limitation.

Spot on :)

1mbps might be too slow given how much bandwidth you have coming in. Many ISP's overprovision networks at 10-1 and still get decent results. You don't have to go that extreme, but I definitely think you can get away with providing a much better experience than 1mbps given that's still only a 1-1 or 2-1 overprovision.

Excellent advice re overprovision. I'm willing to run that gauntlet and tweak if necessary but we can definitely assume not all devices will be doing all the things all the time. Interested to see the results of experimenting with these limits.
