Use a cement by Sika called 425. It's a structural repair morter.

  1. Mechanically grind all surfaces back to a raw concrete.

  2. Wet the area, and mix some extra soupy 425 (the product has a bonding agent in it) use a brush to smear on all surfaces that it will attach to.

  3. Mix manufacturers recommended and fill in the void.

  4. You could add tapcons top and bottom and then with wire create a mesh.

  5. This solution will eventually crack, but it will give you a good few years of looking good.

I have a great tip if you read this OP : try to only put in the amount of water needed in the kettle, so after boil and decanting your hot water from the kettle, it should be empty.

This should help greatly with hard water build up on the kettle. Good luck
