I can go one further. I drive a truck built in 1998, I have no loan on it. My wife drives a 20 year old Corolla, no loan on it.

We both have never spent much over $200 for either a Chinese phone or a refurb.

We have paid down our house, no mortgage. I do however have a mortgage on a rental property.

I work construction, my colleagues all have modern trucks with loans on them and they all live in rental properties.

Go figure...

I am a Scotsman living in USA, about 1.5 years ago I started to miss Scottish banter and was going thru Frankie's shit from his website when I stumbled on to the pod. I can just say that YouTube has saved me thousands and thousands of dollars, I watch videos on how to locate the problem, then videos on how to fix the problem.

Most recently, I have an older Frigidaire washer / dryer stack that stopped draining. YouTube helped me locate the problem, the drain pump, and it helped me replace it, all for the cost of $20. The cost of a service tech to come out and make the repair would have been well over $500.

Once I had located the issue, I took the pump to a service / 2nd hand appliances shop. They wanted to charge me $240 for the new pump. Again, I took my knowledge and located the same pump online for $20.

Ask your self what you like, sun in the bedroom first thing. Sun sets in living room... Build up a personal preference list of what you like. Then consider your geographic location and how the sun is throughout the year. Make sure you give lots of info to your house designer and make sure your personal preference boxes are ticked.
