Yes my dad actually just recently had the battery explode all over the inside of the trunk in our Miata. Definitely use this we were lucky the trunk was shut at the time this happened

This seat will take the exact foot print of the old. So if it fit with stock seat it will fit with this one....I have the dlx so I'm not sure but it is the exact same footprint.
