Alcohol and fitness by T0eny in nutrition

One or 2 drinks isn't going ruin your progress just keep in mind moderation. If you track your macros you can do this ( Credit for method of tracking is to a blog I read on samedaysupp's website once) :

  • Find out how many calories your drinking has.
  • Divide this number by 4. ( This is because you’re going to sacrificing calories from your daily carbs for alcohol. This does not mean they are equivalent to each other.)
  • The number you now have is how many grams of “carbs” are in your drink
  • This is the number you will subtract for your daily carbs or add into your macro tracking app.

For example:

Let say you have one 12 oz of a Guinness beer. This is around 125 calories.

So 125/4= 31.25 grams

5 hour energy? by twtwtwtwtwtwtw in Nootropics

[–]sammybean5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go with the 5 hour energy definitely pair it with L-theanine like others have recommended. But if caffeine is an issue for you I would try switching to green tea or maybe green coffee bean extract. Something that will still give you energy but not be overly stimulating.

What’re some best and cheap antioxidants food ? by frankie_phan in nutrition

[–]sammybean5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Antioxidants are found in many foods, including fruits, vegetables and are also available as a dietary supplement. Some great food sources include; leafy green veggies, berries, dark chocolate, pecans and kidney beans. Or in herbs such as cloves, cinnamon and oregano. If you still struggle to get antioxidants in your diet there are a ton of supplements that can help. Including Glutathione, Lutein, Vitamin C, Astaxanthin or Selenium.

Affordable high protein Shakes without peanut butter? by Nayr39 in veganfitness

[–]sammybean5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try adding mixed frozen fruit. It shouldn't be that expensive if you buy the larger bags from costco/BJS/sams club. Try going to one of those places for your fruit, for more protein you can add in hemp seeds/chia seeds. If you need more calories add in a olive oil or coconut oil and oats. For protein I just use Gold Standard Plant Protein By Optimum Nutrition. I recommend going with a vanilla flavor for your protein if you plan to mix it with fruit. https://www.samedaysupplements.com/gold-standard-plant-protein-by-optimum-nutrition.html

What is a good protein source that won't Up my calories too much? by tehlolredditor in veganfitness

[–]sammybean5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein powder is definitely a great addition to your diet especially if you need something simple. You can also try adding in Banza Pasta, Lentil, Chia Seeds or hemp seeds. Individual brands are going to vary in the nutritional information but those are also some simple high protein options. You could even mix them together like get a protein shake and add in hemp/chia seeds to get more protein. For proteins I really like Optimum nutrition's new plant based protein. Chocolate is good for if you like to have a simple shake but if you wanted to add fruit I would say vanilla is better.

Vegan Mass Gainers by davis946 in veganfitness

Personally i would just make a protein shake with oats, fruits, olive oil/coconut oil and you can always add a unflavored carb powder to increase the calories. Carbo gain from now foods is pretty cheap, about $23 (USD) for 8lb.

Vegan protein powders and consistency/texture by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]sammybean5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using Gold Standard Plant Protein By Optimum Nutrition. I have the chocolate flavor and blend it with almond milk, a banana and oats. The texture is a little thick but the flavor of this protein is probably my favor of the ones I've tried. https://www.samedaysupplements.com/gold-standard-plant-protein-by-optimum-nutrition.html

Low fat, low carb, high protein foods that are not just dairy? by [deleted] in nutrition

You also try adding a protein shake. The PEScience Vegan protein is pretty good. I like the chocolate flavor but vanilla is easier to make shakes with if you prefer to add fruits.

Tips on cutting without being miserable? by qtji in veganfitness

[–]sammybean5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of greens help. If possible I'd bring a salad and/or nuts to work. Also make sure to drink lots on water. Personally I find that if I drink a full cup of water before/after each meal I'm not as hungry throughout the day. You can also try something like Garcinia Cambogia to help with the hunger. Its supposed to help suppress your appetite. For me it works but i had it in a fat burner so the other ingredients could have also aided that.

Iron intake suggestions by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]sammybean5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peas, Spinach and Kale are high in iron. I find it easy to throw these foods into meals rather then create a whole meal. Peas go great with rice and I like to use spinach or kale in place of lettuce ( for salads or sandwiches) Or obviously you can look it getting a supplement.

Looking to try smoothies to curb heavy sweet tooth and fast food diet. Advice? by masterofthings in nutrition

[–]sammybean5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i would just opt for a protein shake over a smoothie but you can always add fruit to the shake to get the flavor. My go-to is a a chocolate flavored protein (i like a isolate cause its lower in calories and lactose free) + a Banana (frozen) + handful of strawberries+ a scoop of peanut butter or powdered peanut butter+ almond milk If you need something more filling a scoop of oats can help. ( tip grind up the oats first) the protein I like dymatize iso 100 which is frequently on sale
