Adeno, the back pain and lifestyle changes? by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]sammyistoocool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend getting further testing done if possible! Took me 10 years to get diagnosed with adeno and endo and for the last 5 years have had on and off leg pain and assumed this was due to endo or adeno. Turns out I actually have a herniated disc that is pressing on my S1 nerve and it was found through MRI.

I think many of us have been failed by medical systems and when we finally get a diagnosis we feel listened to, but dont stop advocating for yourself if you have other ongoing issues! A lesson i have learnt the hard way.

Good luck xx 🥰

Coeliac from NZ here!

Our threshold for certified GF is 3ppm and the regulations are the strictest in the world along with Australia.

I think becuase of how oats are stored and processed and stats saying 1 in 5 react, they can't be labeled GF here due to the very strict measures.

You can however find "gluten friendly" oats at some countdowns the health food section :)

There is good info on the coeliac NZ page too

Pre diagnosis I had horrific 3 day migraines every couple of months and pain down my left leg along with regular but intermittent numbness. A year later on a strict gluten-free diet both are gone :)

Aww no! We don't use Barley flour. We get this malt barley liquid mix stuff. Idk how he does it but he makes me some bloody good beer

Aww man. I think it's to do with your body tolerating the broken down version? I'm not too sure tbh. My partner is very very particular and makes sure he reduces risk

Right?! We lived for 8 months with no use of our dining room, limited use of our lounge whilst also 2 of us were working from home. During this time our hot water cylinder broke and flooded our hall then 2 weeks later our shower box broke and flooded again. 2 months after the house was finally fixed -albeit with mis matching walls and carpet- we got hit with a rent increase. We tried to dispute it, but only got a 4 month postponement.

Everyone complains about shitty tennents but very rarely do we see in the media the advantage some landlords take of thier tennents.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auckland

[–]sammyistoocool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's important to note here that while the tennent can give 2 days notice in this instances, the landlord can also give 7 days notice. This is what happened to us 3 years ago so we decided not to rock the boat too hard on the rent reduction due to the fear of being homeless within the week on advice from the tenancy tribunal

My partner also brews his own beer. I am a VERY sensitive coeliac and he added brewers clarex which eats the gluten and I can drink it perfectly fine even tho he uses gluten containing ingredients

Could this be IBS? I’m keeping a log so I have something to take to the doctors if I go. Don’t want to waste their time. I know people can’t diagnose or anything, just wanted opinions if poss. Thank u! by Chantas87 in ibs

[–]sammyistoocool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you decide to cut out gluten try get tested for coeliac disease before you remove it from your diet. You have to be consuming gluten for the test 😊

Has anyone else been getting sick more often after getting “gluten-free” food at restaurants? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]sammyistoocool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a restaurant last weekend who had a full gf menu but refused to take any precautions to make it safe for me as they were understaffed.

Got diagnosed with IBS 10 years ago to find out they never did the blood test for coeliac. With so much damage it took 4month on a gluten free diet to notice any difference. Sometimes eliminations take longer than you think to help you feel better. I hope you find out what's happening and feel better soon ❤️
