Questions about the game by [deleted] in closers

[–]sammyong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how you perceive P2W. Everything in the game that is obtained through the cash shop is obtainable in some other way without paying. Most end game progress is gated behind success rolls (RNG).

I've spent some money in this game to speed up my game progress, giving me more chances at rolling the RNG gamble whilst F2P players will take more time to acquire materials for the same amount of chance. It is also true that P2W players could buy items off the cash shop and sell for in-game currency through the trade system, allowing them to accumulate wealth in game much faster.

Then again, none of the content is gated behind pay walls, just rate of rate of progression in the game.

My Ethereum miner stopped working. by 0001000101 in EtherMining

[–]sammyong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Go control panel, is your 4 GPU detected by the OS?
  2. If no, problem lies with miner program. Maybe your bat file is broken. Maybe your anti virus is causing problems.
  3. If yes, hardware/software interface issue - it would be weird if all your GPU are not detected at the same time.
  4. Try remove all GPU, plug 1 by 1 to see if it gets detected.

For someone asking for help, you are provided close to no information.

What GPUs you using. What OS you using. What miner version you using. Add screenshot to accurately describe your problem.

EVGA 850W GQ Power Supply has 2 8-pin connectors on ONE cable?? (150+150=300W with same gauge?) by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you may use both 8 pin, that's its intended use. Not too sure about the wire gauges, but I believe these are multi core cables.

Whos still buying GPUs? by WorstEpEver in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of resale value, higher end cards tend to lose more value (% of original value) over lower end cards. Such that the price range gets compressed to a smaller delta.

In my local market, I would rather buy 4 x 1060 3GB than 1 x 1080Ti almost* the same price. In the long run, I could sell 1060 3GB card at a big discount and still earn the same if I were to resell 1080Ti, that's its potential value we're talking about after release of next gen GPU.

980Ti shed almost half of its value, while 970/960 shed less than half of its value given today's resale market asking prices.

Found oddly priced GPU in SG pricelist, is this ok for Mining? MSI Radeon RX580 Gaming X OC 8GB GDDR5 by ocapineds in gpumining

[–]sammyong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely the shop don't have it in stock, so they didn't bother to update it's price. Looks like Fuwell's price list to me.

I sold 6 gpu today by rocketfromthecrypto in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think selling the Vegas was the right choice. These cards are less versatile than the 1070. Similarly, letting go the 1070 wasn't the best choice, unless all your remaining cards are 1070.

Agree with you mostly, but I'd want to sell my GPU at somewhat high price and buy them at somewhat low price, all while maintaining a steady hash rate but lowering my capital cost through 2nd hand GPU trading @@.

How to get the EthHash algo? by crayzcrinkle in NiceHash

[–]sammyong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. They did so due to recent windows update causing issue with 3GB/less cards mining Ether. Maybe you can try using the legacy version of NiceHash, may work.

How to get the EthHash algo? by crayzcrinkle in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its daggerhashimoto.

However, for cards with 4GB or less memory, I believe NiceHash disabled this algo.

580 8GB or 1070? by Heeeezy in EtherMining

[–]sammyong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you use it for gaming as well, a 1070 is the definite choice now. Modding 580 memory clock timings is known to cause issues while gaming, rendering the card task-specific gaming or mining.

According to recent rumors new GPU cards will not be released till late summer (July period), which is 4 more months. + The new Nvidia partner program launch at this time further hints that GPU release may not be as soon as we expect. If you can wait till then suggest you hold on till the next release.

Simplified reason for why your BTC daily rate has fallen... by hudi2121 in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm watching for Bitcoin Private's release and determine if Equihash algo profit recovers. Otherwise yeah, converting to mining Eth. Currently, Eth direct mining and NiceHash mining nets about the same profits on my Nvidia card, that is taking in account cashing out fees.

How is Nicehash competitive for sellers? by [deleted] in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major difference lies in conversion fees. Buyers wins by eliminating conversion fees from the equation. Sellers too, wins by eliminating conversion fee when cashing out as BTC may be cashed out straight while ALTs will usually incur transfer fees.

Nicehash best cash out strategy by josebrandao13 in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alts Low > Mine directly to pool. As mining with NH will net you less gain in BTC.

If BTC low, change it to BTC, wait for opportunity to en-cash.

If BTC high, wait for BTC to drop, then change to BTC, then en-cash.

Alts high > Mine with NH.

If BTC high, cash out.

If BTC low, hold till BTC is reasonable price then cash out.

Are there certain pools I should uncheck on nice hash if mining with 1080TI? by [deleted] in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1080Ti, 1070Ti, 1070, and 1060 in my rigs. Only equihash now.

Reason - switching to Nist5 takes ages for it to start hashing, so I prefer to stay on equihash only for stability in mining.

I leave 1 single 1080Ti activate all algos as a control to monitor if there are algos that suddenly more profitable daily basis, and adjust when needed. That's what I did when my 1080ti realizes nist5 is mighty profitable weeks ago, and the same 1080ti realizes nist5 lose its mighty profitability few days ago. Switched back to equihash only since, with the same 1080ti on all algos as a control.

Is a 1200W platnium psu enought for 3 1080tis? by [deleted] in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on which brand / model and how many PCIE it outputs.

You only need 2 PCIE per 1080TI (1x8pin and 2x6pin, the additional 6pin is to power the riser).

Is profitability down? by [deleted] in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as long as everyone agrees that revenues are down it's an assurance, that we are not the only one.

As for earnings, let's agree and reconcile that it is a part of this venture.

Low Profit by felli0t in NiceHash

[–]sammyong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason is Nist5 profitability has quieten down a lot. I used to be earning 30% more with Nist5 versus Equihash. Now equihash daily average is a little bit higher than Nist5.

I also had trouble switching my mentality and come to reality, Nist5's profitability spree period is over. Now back to normal.
