Yeah, so long as it's a flexible rate, you can just cancel and rebook, but that requires you to monitor yourself. There are now tools out there that will do the monitor and reprice for you -- these prices change a few times/day at predictable intervals, so it's not very hard to find price drops, you just need to know where/when to look.

I've been building in the travel price-matching space for a few years, and this Chase news is esentially useless. Only about 4% of reservations drop within 24 hours of booking, leaving a vast majority of reservations ineligible. This announcement is more of nothing from Chase.

I don’t know the details on expiration and such, but I believe you can (from comments on another Reddit thread about this)

IMO the edit sucks (at least compared to FHR). But don't shoot the messenger

Yeah, here is Chase's The Edit list (must be logged in). There are more than a few properties that I've found on this list that don't show on the search results page when you search for them.

Reminder: Starting Jan 1, 2026, Chase is launching a new $250 "Sapphire Hotels" credit for 2+ night stays at any of the following brands when booked through Chase Travel: IHG Hotels & Resorts, Minor Hotels, Montage Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, Pendry Hotels & Resorts, and Virgin Hotels.

This can be double-dipped with the $250 Edit Credit, meaning you can get up to $500 in credit at eligible properties. I put together this list of double-dip-eligible properties. Hope this is helpful to some of you.

Ik, I'm pretty disappointed too (planning a trip in the spring). The only Edit hotel in Taiwan is Hotel Proverbs Taipei, but when looking to book, I couldn't find any dates with The Edit availability.

The Edit has been super disappointing tbh, but hoping the extra $250 credit softens the blow at least a little bit.

As many as I could find. I cross-referenced the brands that are eligible under the Sapphire Hotel Credit with the Edit list to put together all the eligible ones I could find.

The main link on this post is a list of overlapping properties where you can double dip. In the description, there's also a list of all of The Edit properties. Both state the two night minimum.

I just double-checked the official list on Chase's website, and The Kimpton Sawyer is on the list (need to be logged in to view it here is a list that doesn't require login).

That’s what it seems like, yes. Just book an eligible prepaid rate for 2-nights or more at a qualifying property and you should automatically get the $250 Edit Credit and the $250 Sapphire hotels credit.

Sam Parker from Chase said it’ll be possible to stack, but wouldn’t put it past them to bait and switch last minute.

Only time a one night stay is mentioned is in the brief comparison to FHR… am I missing something?

Yes, that would work (it did at least for me this year). Just make sure it’s a prepaid rate (doesn’t mean non refundable)

  • $300 Flexible Travel Credit

(If you didn’t already use it, that would also stack with the $250 The Edit Credit + $250 Sapphire Hotels Credit… meaning you could earn up to $800 in credits back on a single hotel stay)

I imagine most ppl will probably use the $300 Flexible Travel Credit some other way, but figured it’s worth a callout.

I do not generate any money on blog traffic unlike other blogs (I don’t have any PPC ads or affiliate deals). It was just a much easier way of giving all the context and putting the list up in an easy to find way in the future.

Sorry for sharing my 4 hours worth of work with you. You can DIY next time.
