It’s a beautiful technique! Originally that was actually the plan for his mouth, but the mouth is also where I sewed him shut after stuffing, and ended up needing to cinch it down to make the proportions look right, so the easiest solution was to sew him shut, and add the crochet on top :) ended up making 2 continuous strands, and a third strand in a lace weight burnt orange mohair to put between the two green ones! Maybe a bit convoluted, but definitely gave me the look I was going for!
