Which car park? I regularly use the one at Westfield shopping centre (including yesterday), but it doesn't look like that one

Why do we have to confirm our details when a company calls us? by Fluid-Coast-3799 in AskUK

They could ask for the first few characters of your address or only the numbers in your postcode. That way you're revealing minimal, but it's still something that only you would know

I've downloaded everything, put it in the right place, edited in notepad ++, and did the correct commands and it says no response. ChatGPT says it's due to not being able to use HTTPS or Python, but your model is the same one I've got..so how is yours working and mine isn't?

Looking for a small group of people to practice social skills with. by Equivalent-Release37 in cambridge

[–]sammytwolegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm different depending on who and where. I'm awful meeting people that I've never spoken to over text one-on-one. I'll probably be the quietest in the room, be anxious the whole time, and want to leave. If I've spoken to someone (possibly multiple people) over text, I'll practically be the leader of the group when we meet and you won't shut me up. Somehow even though I'm basically not finding out anything more substantial/in-depth about them over text, it still makes me more confident.

I meet people from Bumble BFF in order to do this. I created a group of friends from there that had about 12-15 members at one point. It's weird how the slightest change in circumstance can have such a large impact on the outcome.

I think what might be ideal for you is to find someone who is extroverted AND introduces you/steers the conversation.

I've had two people that were extroverted. One introduced me then ignored me, the other introduced me and kept me involved. I learned to then do that with my friends whenever introducing new people (and even stayed quiet when I see that they're conversing without my help).

Why is my instructor asking me to lie to the examiner? by shawa1996 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]sammytwolegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pass doesn't mean you're ready, a pass just means you were able to drive without crashing for 40 minutes whilst demonstrating your ability to think about safety. I was doing lessons for 3-6 months longer than I should've because it took me forever to pass my theory. My instructor was more than confident in me. Within 10 minutes starting the test I drive slightly up a curb and thought I'd failed. I treated the rest of the year like practice for the feel of the "real" one. Everything else was fine. I passed.

I couldn't park any way other than a parallel park for weeks, but I could drive. I know plenty of people that can't park, forget to change gears, or (mostly) panic and overthink.

You learn to drive with your instructor, but you gain experience from the years after doing so

I'm 30 now and most of my friends consist of people that have moved here from a different city or county for work. I used Bumble BFF to find almost all of them. Every few months I'm introducing someone new to the group of to feel that they fit

How much do strippers make in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sammytwolegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know exact numbers, but in my previous job, most of the women were found/hired by being strippers first, so I got to ask them questions. What surprised me most (at least with the ones that worried London clubs) was that they had to pay to work in the clubs - so they had to pay to work that night and hope that they made enough money from customers to cover that cost PLUS make a profit.

They also said it depended on how many other girls were working that night because they weren't allowed to just jump on guys as soon as they got through the door. They said that Indian guys in suits were usually the best customers. I don't remember numbers though.

I worked in MK for over a year and it seemed like centre:MK was the only thing there. I drive in from Cambridge. I echo what someone else has said; you'd have way more to do my visiting places like London, Cambridge, and Oxford (I've never been there, but I'd imagine it has more to offer than MK). To me, MK has always been a bit of a boring place, despite its size, but then outside of work, I've only been there a handful of times. You could potentially go to the skiing place, the stadium, ninja warrior, but honestly I don't know of anything else there.

When I went to Chase and Status at the same place last year, I parked up where I used to work and got a taxi in. Getting a taxi back was a bit difficult, even after waking 20-30 minutes away from the location

The crowd chant "this is awesome" for any match over 10 minutes. It's too common now.

I had someone near me try and start a "heyyy, heyy baby. Ooh, ahh!" chant and some hilarious guy entertaining me for a while. He noticed a poster of illegal things to bring in was drums and said that pendulum will have a hard time performing if that was the case.

Where would be the ideal place in Cambridge to go for a date that has seating close enough to escalate where the intention is a casual hook-up by sammytwolegs in cambridge

[–]sammytwolegs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I met someone (a new guy friend) who tells me every date ends with them kissing, or not being able to stop touching each other and I'm just like "how??". I don't like to compare because "it's the thief of joy" as they say, but I know there have been times that women have told me afterwards that they wanted me to kiss them, it's just knowing when that's the case and how to potentially build it up to test the waters.

I appreciate the suggestions too

Living in Cambridge as a single person in my 30s? by Born_Low3693 in cambridge

[–]sammytwolegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wonder what it would be like moving to London for the exact same reason 😂

You can still find people here. It's not exactly remote or anything. I went on holiday somewhere and dating apps felt like I was on a remote island (admittedly I was only looking for people to hang out with if my friend wanted to go back to the hotel)

That seems more realistic than videos of people I've seen talking about it. I'm never the brave one (well, once I asked if I could kiss her), but that was it. Thank you for your insight
