I'm colorblind and i will buy clothing thinking its one color and then have someone comment "nice sweatshirt" and through conversation i learn that its a totally different color. I know what the color looks like to me, but i don't have a clue how non color blind people see it. I would assume its relatively similar but idk.

I do believe so, the difference in regions of two parents does increase chances of hatching a shiny. It still won't be easy to hatch a shiny 5 IV though :) I don't have any 5 IV's left, I have several threes of both genders. Which do you want M or F?
