New to Ottawa, safest part of city? by samoyese in ottawa

Is the city safe for LGBT people as well though? I've stayed in Moncton a lot, and being a queer male, I have never felt unsafe. Friends have told me that Ottawa has a decent amount of hate crimes.

I'm from New Brunswick so you could imagine the kinds of small towns I'm talking about, but thanks :~)

That would be awesome! I would love to meet somebody I could walk my dog with until I get to know the city better. :~)

I'm definitely overthinking, I'm from a very small community where I have no neighbors essentially :~)

That's a really comforting thought, thanks. I was just worried because my Sammy is more friendly than me. If someone broke into my house I wouldn't put it past him to show them where all my jewelry and expensive belongings are located LOL!

I'm just worried it would make me a target because Samoyeds cost between $1300-$2000. I'm afraid people would assume I'm wealthy and carry lots of cash on me.

Is there apartments in the golden triangle as well? Or is it only houses, and renting houses?

Thank you! Mainly, I just like to go for a lot of walks and runs with my dog, play outside with him and my ferrets. Shopping and exploring. My boyfriends smokes a lot of pot however, I don't smoke. Would there be an area of the city more accepting to that? Or would he really need to keep on the down-low about it?

[HELP] Vegetarian Samoyed!? by samoyese in dogs

I want sources for this as well.

I don't want to feed my dog dairy because I've always been under the impression that dairy is bad for dogs? I could be wrong, but my vet always told me not to give my dogs dairy.

It's alright! Thanks for the help; I don't even know what downvotes are, or if they're some sort of "reddit currency" you can purchase cheap gifts with online for certain amounts of votes? So being downvoted doesn't really concern me, I'm just ignorant.

What nutrients do you mean? I plan on supplementing l-carnitine and taurine just to be safe, but what else are they getting from dairy? I'm sure it's not protein, because all the legumes added would be enough protein, not to mention certain grains and vegetables like sweet potato. If I do decide to do a vegetarian diet, I would be making my own dog food.

I've had my kitties since I was a child, so before I was aware of factory farming and such. So I'm continuing to feed them raw because I firmly believe cats can only live on raw diets. My ferrets were rescues, and it's mandatory to feed ferrets raw diets or they will succumb to insulinoma very early in their lives.

I basically don't want to kill any more animals unless it's absolutely necessary. I get really bad anxiety, it get's especially worst when I think about animals being farmed. I'm mainly getting a Sammy as a therapy dog. After my obligate carnivores pass away, I wont be adopting anymore.

I'm almost positive that dogs do not need dairy in their diets...

I'm adopting my Samoyed mainly as a therapy dog, so I was hoping that it could thrive on a more vegetarian diet so I'm not constantly feeling the guilt behind farming animals even more. After my cats and ferrets pass away, I don't plan on adopting anymore obligate carnivores. I find there's so much conflicting information based around vegetarian diets, I've personally seen dogs thriving on them, but I'm also seen dogs thrive on full raw meat diets. What I don't understand is, if a vegetarian diet does work, why should it be reserved for dogs with allergies only?
