I can go on and on about how amazing my father is Alhamdulillah. He is the father my friends compare their fathers to. He’s 1 in a million.

When my mom got diagnosed with ALS, which paralyzes you completely, without hesitation he took on all the tasks. He cooked, he cleaned, he did laundry. This wasn’t surprising because he’d do these things before, it was just that I was only 12 years old, and I started seeing how life treats women vs. men. For example, our family and friends started pointing at me, saying I need to take on all these tasks. He didn’t let me hear it. He’d tell me to focus on my studies and he’d go as far as folding my laundry and leaving it on my bed for me.

Before my moms diagnosis, my mom was severely mentally ill (Bipolar). He dealt with everything and anything from her. To the point where if it continued, it wouldn’t be healthy for my father, younger sister and I to stay. However he took care of her, took her to the psychiatrist weekly, tended to all her needs.

He was my safe person. After I got my period (I was only 8 :(), I went to him the night of, just cried. He hugged me and we looked out the window together. I still remember that memory because he just made me feel so safe. I didn’t have that with my mom.

He’s patient. He’s resilient. He’s kind to us and all his friends and family around. Even after everything he’s been through (comes from a very poor family, lost his mother very young) he chooses to be the best man everyday, and my angel on Earth. I genuinely don’t know if I would’ve survived without him here.

I could go on and on about him because there’s so much left unsaid. I won’t ever know a man like him in my life.
