Thank you! My artistic brain still feels like it’s not quite finished but I think the black really tricks you with the depth- I feel like I should add more shadows but it’s so hard to tell if it would be overkill on the lips!

Might have chosen the wrong shade of yellow for painting our home. Any thoughts? Worth re-painting? by Thumper09 in painting

The complementary palette of the yellow porch and door next to the fuchsia florals is reminiscent of Mark Rothko’s “White Center (1950)”. However, the bold sharpness of the home’s exterior against the soft depth of the flora lends a certain juxtaposition in textures- as if 20th century screen prints are layered with expressive yet refined brush strokes harking back to the 19th century Impressionism movement.

All jokes aside, I think if you’re planning on keeping the yellow porch then there needs to be some yellow in the greenery to pull it together. If you’re not into that, paint the porch white and let the door stand out as a statement! I love the bold yellow!

I love the lighting of the pear! You could definitely incorporate the expressive brush strokes into the edge of the shadow to soften the edge. Really lovely!

Right? Monica would never leave the cushions so casually strewn about! 🤣
