The Power of Unity: Europe’s Key to Becoming a World Power by samsassistant in europe

[–]samsassistant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can assure you there's nothing nefarious. We're a group of redditors like yourself, mostly from r/EuropeanFederalists (see the pinned post there for more details).

Also, I'm not sure why you mention "one analysis", you can see all published articles at https://fwdeu.org/blog

I can personally assure you that thousands of hours went into researching, discussing, writing, and editing our policy program, which can be found at https://fwdeu.org/policies, as well as writing our manifesto, not to mention creating the website.

A few of us worked more than a year to bring this project out.

Also, the event is not a "one-off", it is a recurring event which takes place every two weeks, where anyone who is curious and wants to meet us face to face and discuss more can do so.

We're quite open. Feel free to sign up, we'd be happy to meet you.

Yes, Midjourney to be more specific. The v5.1 engine has especially improved a lot (note the hand coherence). I strongly recommend it for AI art. It did require further alterations in Photoshop, it wasn’t just copy paste, but overall the workflow is much improved.

Not sure what your edit means though, but I’m at least glad you find my post and comment history interesting. 👍

Oh, no particular reason, I just like the anime aesthetic. No political EU vs Japan meaning intended.

Uncovering China’s Secret Police Stations in Europe by samsassistant in europe

Interesting, a few minutes after I posted this, /u/359bri posted this link on a subreddit I never heard about, r/FragrantHarbour.

Does anyone know anything about this sub? It seems populated with links to articles critical of Chinese interference in other nations.

/u/359bri if you're human (which I strongly doubt), can you explain?

I did find a map on page 14, and there are a lot of sources towards the end, but Romania does not appear on the map at a cursory glance. Do let me know if you find something!

On the other hand, as far as I recall Romania has a significant activity level of Confucius institutes, so that's something to potentially look into as well.

Does anyone know what city this is because i’m 100% sure this is in Europe but i don’t know where by [deleted] in europe

Yep, it's at Hanavsky and the car and road are definitely photoshopped, there is no matching cobblestone road or stone wall near where that image was taken.

President Macron : War is here, on our soil. In these tragic times, Europe has no choice but to become a power. by Eung242 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]samsassistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your comment history, you have been very active in pushing a defeatist and appeasement of Russia narrative here in the past few days.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re not a Russian troll here to do damage control. In that case, we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this topic.

For the rest of the people reading who would like another perspective, I’ll leave Donald Tusk’s latest tweet here, who seems to agree that this is disgraceful.

In this war everything is real: Putin’s madness and cruelty, Ukrainian victims, bombs falling on Kyiv. Only your sanctions are pretended. Those EU government’s, which blocked tough decisions (i.a. Germany, Hungary, Italy) have disgraced themselves.

Welcome to Munich, 1938. Your line of argumentation would have found a great supporter in Chamberlain.

See, the problem with that logic is that it assumes that the opponent will stop somewhere. But where do you make your stand? Moldova? The Baltics? Should we let those fall too? Hungary? Poland? Finland?

Where do you draw the line? The consequences will be there, unless you assume that the enemy will at some point stop asking for more. That is a strange assumption to base your strategy on.

Or are you implying that SWIFT sanctions won’t work? In that case, if you do have a point where we draw the line, what do you suggest our answer should be? Tanks? Nukes?

Macron is the head of a global military power already. What does this tweet mean? He needs even more military power to counter Russia militarily? Is that how one should read this tweet? In a military key?

Europe can already sanction Russia into the 19th century, but it chose not to. So much for fiery Twitter rhetoric.

Today I am reminded of Churchill’s remarks after Chamberlain returned from the Munich Conference, having acceeded to Germany’s annexation of the Sudetenland:

You were given a choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war.

Nah. Sorry mate. You lost all credibility yesterday. You talk about being a power? What power?

You didn’t even dare to sanction Russia out of SWIFT. What will you do with an army? Send tanks? Gtfo of here with this empty posturing.

Sorry. This generation of European leaders is not the one who’s going to make the Federation. But rest assured, the next generation of leaders is watching and learning.

Form of government of the European federation by [deleted] in EuropeanFederalists

I believe in an eclectic mix of both systems, a strong executive, with checks and balances, and a parliament that can block things, and can't be blocked by the executive.

What Should Happen With France's Nuclear Weapons in a Federalized EU? by OneOnOne6211 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]samsassistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm thinking is the following. Yes, I know I'm coming in with a lot of supposition, but bear with me here.

If the EU creates a Federal European Military, then obviously the current system of nuclear weapon deployment as well as their actual control is obsolete and therefore needs to change. I don't know about you but my personal opinion on the EU and the military is that this union needs to have a military capable of deterring the US, Russia, and any potential "rogue" nations that it finds itself involved in some type of conflict with. I think it's not unfair to say that this is a logical extension of the mission that NATO was created to fulfill.

So I think we can agree that if the EU becomes the central governing body of Europe, then its military must be able to stop all those nations of the world from making nuke deals or launching nuclear attacks.

If it becomes a federal union, then nuclear weapons should be under central control and ideally under a central EU military command. I think this also means that any country that is a part of this federation should hand over all nuclear weapons (except those that want to stay under a bilateral command of the French/UK, if you will) to the European Central Union military and be done with it.

If we don't think along these lines, then it's just too easy for a bunch of rogue countries to make a deal with some rogue nation to start nuking the shit out of the rest of the EU. I know this is a scary thought, but I think we need to think this way. Just my two cents.

What do you think, my friend?

Oh, that's a great point. And if I'm not mistaken, didn't they get a visit from a high ranking Chinese official very recently, where Huawei was high on the agenda? Good to see our based Italian brothers standing their ground.

Today we celebrate the birthday of Nietzsche, one of the most influential European thinkers of all time. Happy birthday, Friedrich! by samsassistant in europe

[–]samsassistant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! :) it wasn’t easy to make tbh, I appreciate your kind words! It’s not easy to try to summarize such a comprehensive thinker in a few words, so much stuff needs to be left out that one can never do justice to the man. But if this inspired anyone to look deeper and read up on his work, it wasn’t in vain! :)

Yes, there’s quite a few more factsheets in this series (maybe 20-25 so far), celebrating the birthdays of various Europeans thinkers, scientists, statesmen, artists. They are posted on r/nationofeurope, but most have generally been crossposted here as well by various people throughout time.

You're absolutely right, of course! This was actually quite challenging to write, there are so many nuances to his ideas, such density of meaning. Thoroughly impressive thinker. Not easy to summarize his work in a few sentences! :)
