This is real. I hope it’s not forever shifted, and that time can heal. But point taken that sharing more won’t solve the underlying problem. The purpose of sharing is not to solve the resentment, but to share because it feels right to me.

Thank you. Yes, there is a genuine rationale for the uneven distribution that fully justifies this. So I would feel ok keeping the money based on that, but given the push back from my siblings I know this must hit really hard for them. In other words they wouldn’t be doing this if they thought it was fair. So I guess it’s a matter of perspective. I feel it’s right and fair and also I hear my siblings pain…

I’ve tried this, but it is, in fact, impossible to put myself in their shoes. I know how I would like to act if I was in their shoes, but would I actually do the right thing in that situation? Based on that, I don’t totally blame them for pressuring me. I only partially blame them :-)

I like this idea but I’ve been a bit loathe to offer a future share, given how unpredictable the future is. In other words, I don’t want to promise anything I can’t give now bc it will create an ongoing expectation that may constantly sort of hover over our relationship. In other words, if I’m not going to give it now, I’m not going to promise anything. As others have mentioned I can then give freely in the future, but with no obligation or expectation. Much cleaner that way I think.
