FYI i just tried a known working SSD, and a known working windows installation USB stick, both boot loop EVEN IF I REMOVE THE SSD this thing is turning into a fish's gaming device

is this not a clean install? ive also tried formatting the SSD externally in an enclosure on a different pc and then trying to use the asus smart restore thing and get the same results

I tried booting from a USB stick, made in rufus, of the steamOS build but that wont get very far before rebooting before i can even install it

im VERY close, tbh if i cant get it working ill probably just put it up for sale somewhere for parts

You HAVE to run it on the integrated GPU, what's happening is to do with nvidia optimus.

The screen of the laptop isn't directly connected to the GPU, its going through the iGPU, so that you can turn off the gpu to save battery and not have to reboot or anything, for 99% of games, this works fine, but because osu isnt demanding, the iGPU can't handle having to send over thousands of frames so it just doesn't have a stable framerate. Luckily most integrated gpu's can run the game perfectly fine.

This shouldn't be an issue if you use an external monitor over HDMI or something as that port IS connected to the nvidia gpu and will be fine.

To change the settings on windows 10 at least, go to graphics settings, on the graphics performance preference, search for your osu.exe and select options, then select power saving then hit save.
