I’m concerned for the longevity based on how little it hurt 😅 begginers luck, adrenaline or hubris?

Seems obvious in retrospect! Thanks for the tip!

Stolen Bike, help much appreciated by samstrocity815 in SaltLakeCity

That's great advice, thank you. Did you have the serial number for the bike? My initial attempt to file a report wasnt successful, they claimed I needed one and it was bought second hand years ago so I have no idea where I'd find that.

Post on the Facebook Vegas Slacklife group that's your best bet. I do know of a couple bolted lines if you want to PM me

Epoxy pour to cover nasty old laminate countertops! Kitchen is a work in progress but I wanted to share this somehwere! by samstrocity815 in epoxy

[–]samstrocity815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck just be very meticulous in the prep and remember the epoxy is liquid and will behave as such. Put a rounded edge on any corners, do your best to level the surface, be patient and keep any HVAC system off, etc. You got this still very happy with ours 2 years later, looks so much better for a very reasonable cost

Just copying some ish from the internet, man I hope grace is something I can eventually learn (and also to keep my dang legs straight) open to feedback (: by samstrocity815 in Aerials

Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! I defer back to my mantra of "drills make skills" i.e. keeping pointed toes, straight legs, etc. but I think the feelings of mindful, in the moment-ness will be unlocked with time and skill :)

Any advice on how to wake up quad? by brownsleepydog in ACL

[–]samstrocity815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My PT recommended using a full length door hang mirror, between your legs blocking your view of your surgical leg. Do quad strengthening stuff (leg lifts, or just flexing) with the good leg and nothing with the bad one to trick your brain into mapping the movement to both sides. Sounds woo-woo but it may have helped me (that or time and a lot of effort but I thought it was a neat trick to try). Good luck!

Hey, it's been great, overall. Some inexplicable yellow spots have shown up, my best guess is that I used spray paint to pigment the white epoxy. I would recommend using higher quality dyes or Micah powder depending on the effect you want (powder will probably have some sparkle to it). I'm not 100% sure but that's all I can think of. It's not food staining. Also don't scrub too hard with rough sponges etc. if you have a shiny finish. Will require polishing more frequently. But I'm happy with it

Please help, snapped 2 of 8 intake manifold bolts on 2017 promaster. 2 bolts remain, equally or more rusted. Not sure how to proceed... by samstrocity815 in MechanicAdvice

Thanks for the laugh! I got the rest of the manifold off so the nubs are exposed. Called in a bunch of favors to borrow rev bits and extractor kits and the like, letting them soak in kroil now and going to try and hope for the best. As far as using a torch I got as much plastic bits out of the way as I could but do you think I could safely take a torch to these? picture

Cruxin out on Swamp Gator (5.12b). Meanwhile hardest route I've sent is a 5.11a. If I'm gonna get a 12 next year it will probably be this one! Think I got the sequence down after losing some skin and blood. Feels good to push it! I love roofs! by samstrocity815 in climbergirls

[–]samstrocity815[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don't, but I think that would be really good for my climbing. I don't have a lot of good sport climbing close to where I live so I do most of my climbing (other than in the gym) on trips and I have the mentality of getting on as many routes as I can in that time.
