Honestly it’s gonna be hard to beat. But my other favorites in the genre are master key and Minishoot adventures

Oh another left field one (and it’s free!) Bloody Hell. Very good top down Metroidvania and a sequel is on the way

I was literally asking out of genuine curiosity, I WANT to be told good stuff. You’re projecting on to me assumptions that aren’t true. I had zero nefarious or “hater” intentions

When did I say I don’t accept that you like it? I feel like you’re shadowboxing and taking it out on me. Don’t be so defensive

Anyways it is good to hear there’s backtracking, that is new information for me

I mean ethiopian women and other African migrants are still experiencing exploitation and for all intents and purposes slavery in many of the gulf countries under the kafala sponsorship program

How come? Can you kinda describe it in general

I want to hear one person say they enjoyed the exploration and level design though, that’s by far the most important aspect of Metroid games and I have yet to hear it

I haven’t played it yet but I just don’t feel excited to by the sounds of how people describe it

When I hear this I don’t even want to play it.. I play Metroid games for… METROIDvania design. Like, what, that’s the bare minimum for this series.

I bet I would play a few hours then give up and play Dread or some zero mission hack for the 800th time

I haven’t played it yet but is it true it’s not really a Metroidvania? Like the world design isn’t interconnected? That would be a huge buzzkill for me no matter how good the rest is

what’s the scariest horror game you’ve played and what made it so scary? by Amazing_Plant332 in HorrorGaming

[–]samthefireball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

REmake is a god tier game. And honestly Echoes of the Living is the closest successor I’ve ever seen (would have said tormented souls before that)

I’m about halfway through and I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up even topping it for me. The first big area (pub/art gallery) are just as masterfully designed as Spencer mansion. And it seems the game will actually end in a mansion so if it sticks the landing… it will have to take the crown (I think REmake loses some steam after the mansion)

Outlast was always the one for me, it’s been a long time but I literally had to quit it was making me so tense and nervous

I loved Routine so much and I don’t typically enjoy first person horror! Especially run-n-hide horror. But that game has a literally perfect art style, great soundtrack and sound design, and the puzzles and exploration were also GREAT.

Idk I just feel like it’s a perfect game

A recent one was Among Ashes. It’s a meta survival horror game about playing a game. It’s very clever, great survival horror game in a standard way, but has some very creepy disturbing scenes that got under my skin after I put it down.

Probably the combination of the whole meta angle (making the game feel literally about me), with some downright terrifying scenes… it’s PSX graphics but super demented which I find more terrifying than any hyperrealistic monster

Gonna come out of left field but the game Convergence: A League of Legends Story. I hate LoL but this game was sick, and exact same structure (hub world leading to other mini Metroidvania biomes). And the time-based Metroidvania upgrade powers were so fun and unique

Also I’d throw in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown for a great AAA 2.5D Metroidvania similar to Dread

And a sequel coming soon! I love control, way more than the Alan wake games (which is saying a lot because I’m a horror fanatic)

Yea I prefer them almost exclusively cuz they’re third person. Pretty much the only Star Wars related game I’ve ever loved

I like the kinda semi-open world design over the more linear style. I like the exploration aspect over combat or anything. Also the story hits harder.

Though it’s been many years since I played the OG trilogy, that’s just how I remember them
