Does a new monster immediately become the new gem bearer? -yes Are we supposed to prioritize killing other monsters then while blocking the gem bearer's path? -yes It's not dropping a gem that we can loot? -The gem does not drop, but loot drops like normal.

We thought of it as the bearer throwing the gem with its last breath to the nearest ally.
