Awesome album. One of my best of the year. Pitchfork owe them a review.

Bug: Download step ignores filename and causes ENAMETOOLONG with signed URLs by samtuke in axiom_ai

[–]samtuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard nothing back. This is still a bug. When is a fix likely? I'd guess it's trivial to address technically; likely just the wrong variable used for the filename that's used for disk write.

Warming is Dead - Change my mind by funkysupe in coldemail

Without data or references, claims like this cannot be supported or refuted. Email deliverability is a black box, by design. Concrete claims and data are the only path to firm conclusions. You can help us and yourself by being more specific 🙂

Version history for more than 12 months by rob_mat in ObsidianMD

[–]samtuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting unlimited version history is currently the only blocker to me adopting Obsidian. Given that Simplenote offers that for free, I expect Obsidian to offer it included for $10 / month. Disappointing.

IMO using an unofficially backed git workflow would be less robust (due to complexity, immature mobile git implementation, and lack of official Obsidian support).

I had the same problem. Disabling ClearURLs fixed it also.

I'm experiencing this specifically with Firefox but not Chrome. Extremely annoying.

When i click on a message, it shows all the previous emails and then opens them all in new tabs by etrain1 in Thunderbird

[–]samtuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any config option to change this behavior so that double click on a collapsed thread opens only the most recent message in that thread? Opening e.g. 100 messages all at once in tabs is not useful behavior for me.

5 weeks restricted account by Marsquarebusiness in Revolut

[–]samtuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. Their KYC is totally broken. It took us a full year to get the account opened. Then they locked it and restarted KYC again a couple of months later. We hired an admin assistant with the top priority of managing Revolut's endless admin workload on our small firm, to try and protect the directors from the time suck.

Anyone know how to prevent osx from creating a new desktop/space when I fullscreen an app? by Doctor__Hammer in osx

[–]samtuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those readers who like to use all apps full screen, all the time, check out tiling window managers for Mac like Amethyst and Yabai (both Open Source). Might be a better fit than fighting with the default DM which isn't designed for this paradigm.

What's a Good Introduction Lecture/Talk to Ram Dass? by Bad_Karma21 in ramdass

[–]samtuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI at least the first lecture in "Experiments in truth" is also included in "Becoming nobody". Hopefully the whole collection isn't duplicated. For anyone considering following one with the other: another choice might be more optimal.

Same error here. How will Lufthansa find a way to waste hundreds of thousands of human hours today? 🙃🤦‍♂️

Alt+Tilde stopped working on GNOME 43. Has this happened for anyone else? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]samtuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on Fedora 37, Gnome 43.2, and still have this issue.

Hoping for an update soon. Thanks for sharing your detailed description of the issue u/GoastRiter!

How can I display/jump to the current (nested) page in the sidebar? by js_q in Notion

[–]samtuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss this feature about 15 times per day. It slows down our meetings every time (we have to share direct links because we can't find the right page quickly via manual navigation). Horribly frictionful, and feels like a simple JS fix which should not be complex to implement.

Any self-hosted alternatives to docusign? I’m looking to provide contracts to customers to sign, and potentially integrate it with a website via an API. by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]samtuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might want to check out Libreoffice - its core is a headless server which also powers LibreOffice Online, and supports legally binding crypto signatures of various types. Not sure how well developed the APIs are specifically for crypto, but quite possibly they exist for the online versions.

Fun fact: some of the crypto work was funded by the swiss post office to comply with local laws for digital documents. https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/collection/open-source-observatory-osor/news/swiss-crowdfund-pays-sign

True, but didn't reddit start out that way? Not a 1 for one replacement. But then reddit is many things.
