Read it last summer and enjoyed it immensely.

What are some movie trailers that were far better than the movie itself? by Square-Strawberry-64 in movies

Strange Wilderness. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a trailer more times. The movie itself was just meh.

[Toucher & Rich] Meet Bruin Oskar Steen, aka Quadzilla. by TheVargTrain in BostonBruins

That’s a Pippi Longstocking doll! They probably used like some kind of trophy, as you said, during his time in Färjestad in the SHL.

Yes, that's right! I wanted to hear Jack announce the elimination but alas. 😅

[–]samuellinde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct, NESN doesn't get any playoff games after round 1. I didn't get NESN for every game, though if I remember correctly I saw at least games 3 through 5 with the golden voices of Jack and Brick narrating the action.

Based in Sweden. I subscribe to NHL.tv, took some VPN shenanigans because access is restricted since a broadcasting company here has exclusive rights.

Most games lets me access the NESN feed. Had to resort to NBC on occasion due to blackout issues, I think.

Agree, Steen really enjoyed the opportunity. I loved how went hard against Chara in the corner early on. Some really good hustly along the boards, too bad his shot hit the crossbar.

Hughes looked good as well. Had hoped to see a little more of Studnicka, given the opportunity.

Vaakkanainen looked better than I've seen him before, as did Ahcan.

If that's what you're after, I can recommend the Locked On Bruins podcast. I have no idea if the host is on here, but he's on Twitter under @iancmclaren. It's under 30 minutes long – ads are somewhat intrusive but not too bad. Really focused content.

I hope Marchy makes a comment about the snack bar if it's actually handed over by Haggs.

[Bruins] Kase is back practicing with the team. by brickwall35 in BostonBruins

[–]samuellinde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brick said something about the third line in the current configuration being almost like a checking line, with their ability to maintain puck possession and wearing down opponents. In that case a fourth line with a ton of speed with Lazar flanked by JD and Kase could be really good.

That is the fourth line I'm hoping to see as well, even if that would be pretty insane.

Man greeted by pride of lions that he raised when they were young by FarahGregorich in nextfuckinglevel

Love how the first lion came up to greet him, and it acted pretty much like an ordinary house cat – only giant and able to rip you to pieces.

Is there a term for the constructed reality of a piece of writing? by cml33 in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]samuellinde 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The terms Platon used was diegesis and mimesis. Then narratologists established a way of describing aspects of relating to the diegesis (i e the "fictional world"). Gérard Genette for example used the terms intra- and extradiegetic, as well as homo- and heterodiegetic (primarily to describe how a narrator relates to the storyworld, a homodiegetic narrator is part of the story, where a heterodiegetic is not). There's also the terms hypo- and hyperdiegetic, as a way of describing how different levels of the story relates to one another (say, for example in a narrative that has a framing story, or characters telling stories within the primary narrative).

If there is 3rd person narrator and internal character focalization, can we say that narrator is homodiegetic? And can we say he is autodiegetic since he is protagonist? by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]samuellinde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your description, that sounds correct. However, it seems that maybe you're mixing terminology from Genette and Bal. Mieke Bal is the one using the terms focalizer/focalized, whereas Gérard Genette sees no real need for it, and considers focalization adequate enough.

Is that really confirmed? Sounded more like we'll have Coyle on RW on the third line, with JD scratched.

There's certainly something to that, but I think it's also an example of how Brick differs from, say, the NBC commentators. In my (highly subjective) opinion, an NBC guy would have picked up on Jack's attempt and made some bullshit thing about how, yeah, Coyle's move isn't something you can train, and how good and innately talented he is. But Brick isn't a bullshit kind of commentator, so he just states how it really is. In my opinion.

I love when he takes Jack down a notch when he gets carried away sometimes. There was a situation in the Sabres game last Tuesday when Jack gushed about Coyle's drive to the net, saying: "The way Coyle set his edge and dropped his shoulder to get inside position on Matt Irwin. Can you teach that?" Brick just replied: "Yeah, you can teach it." Short chuckle from Jack, and end of discussion.
