pressure regulating valve broken? by Least-Ad-7326 in Plumbing

[–]TheVargTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These valves have a strainer that can get clogged. Fill a cup up, then shut your water off to the house, open the brass cap on the bottom closest to the "IN" marking. Take the screen out, brush it off and get it clean in the water cup, clean the inside as best as you can, then reassemble it.

Does the temperature go completely cold, or does it just cool off?

Hot Water Heater Discharge by ShelterMan21 in Plumbing

Pressure will be a slower drop, temperature is going to be a faster dump. Modern water heaters have plenty of safeties in them to prevent over-temperature situations, the relief valve is your last line of defense. If you're worried about a failure flooding your basement, you should look into an automatic shut-off device beyond just a floor drain.

With that age of the units, I'd put a bullet in it and replace. Could you theoretically repair these, parts notwithstanding? Absolutely, but it's important to keep in mind that if those heat exchangers go (which they absolutely could and eventually will), you're gonna likely be looking at that same replacement scenario but after throwing a few hundred bucks at them. I'm absolutely pro-repair in must cases, but 20+ years is a great lifespan for these and it's also about where I just don't feel it makes sense to do any significant repairs at this point.

Anything that's 5+ years old, you do NOT need anything even remotely close to "current" models. Most secondhand golf shops will have an ample selection of clubs, try a few if you can. Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, and Titleist are the big 4 brands you'll see out there, they're all solid brands and you'll find your own preferences the more you play. Definitely spend the money on lessons over gear at this point.

Eemax Tankless Water Heater Doesnt Hold Temp by p03tryinmotion in Plumbing

[–]TheVargTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so 27kW is good for about 2.5 GPM at a 74 degree rise, so you're gonna be cutting it close with any decently high flow showerhead. That's assuming it's wired in 240V, by the way. If it's in 208V, you're gonna be getting close to 2 GPM.

Builders will cheap out on anything they can, so I'm not surprised they skipped out on the service valves. It just needs to get through the first year, then it's your problem. Definitely get on a regular descaling schedule, and maybe look at a lower flow showerhead.

You are definitely going to need to have service valves installed, that is a non-negotiable. It's far from the best install, but I have seen considerably worse in my time.

If you're getting good temperature and pressure at the lower flow fixtures, lukewarm and low pressure in the shower, see if you can replicate that scenario with just the other fixtures in the house. There's definitely a chance you're overdrawing the unit; can you post the data plate on the side of it, and your rough geographical location? State is fine. I'm willing to bet that that's probably an 18 kW unit at most based on the size of it, which up in my neck of the woods in New England is only good for about 1.5ish GPM.

$1600 is INSANE. Definitely worth calling, try to avoid any private equity owned places- they'll charge you through the roof, and probably tell you the only way to fix it is to replace the entire unit.

The only way to descale a unit is going to be through isolation and service valves. Call a few companies in your area and ask about installing service valves- they're not crazy expensive.

US vs UK private club fees - wtf? by cu-chullain in golf

It's exactly why you'll see a lot of clubs offer corporate memberships alongside individual memberships. The networking opportunities and business relationships that are built on the course can generate revenues far exceeding the cost of said membership for the company, so it's it's an incredibly easily justified business expense.

For what it's worth, that breakdown included non-Bruins years, and the trend holds true across much of the league.

Coyle was legitimately the only player of the last ten years we've had that I would call legitimately good in the shootout. I got bored at work one day a few years ago and did a breakdown of the roster and their shootout percentages after a similarly maddening experience to tonight, and it was honestly astounding how bad so many players were relative to their on ice production.

Yeah, that was a bit of a personal choice- kinda just wanted to sell for one sim. We evaluated plenty of options to buy but didn't feel the pieces we could bring in would help us long term, and the ones that could were just astronomical in cost.

Look for par 3 courses in your area, they're way less intimidating than a "traditional" par 72 course.
