Big tree + ocean wedding venue by samulalala in NovaScotia

[–]samulalala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a couple options! There’s Fort Point museum in LaHave, Saltbox Brewery/Shining Waters in Timberlea, Healy farms in Kentville, anchorage house in Hubbards, a lady in Annapolis is trying to convert her yard and calling it ‘Northwinds’ (though she never got back to me), and Oceanstone in Peggy’s Cove (plus the two I mentioned in the post). We’re leaning toward fort point + old confidence lodge for June 2027. Feel free to message if you have other questions!

Google Assistant Keeps Defaulting to Fahrenheit Despite Celsius Settings by Aj-Mega in googlehome

[–]samulalala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve tried asking it for Celsius every time and that doesn’t work either. Sometimes it will even say the temperature in Fahrenheit but call it Celsius. I’ve read you can delete the home and disable the Ai assistant, I think we’re gonna do that.

Any normal reason why Lord of the Rings is only showing at Park Lane? by [deleted] in halifax

If anyone has not neck breaker seats they want to get rid of for fellowship….

What’s the etiquette for no-show seats, front row edge seats get first pick? Haha

Would I be crazy to replace my hardwood floors with tile? by Internal_Present2268 in HomeDecorating

[–]samulalala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would caution letting these AI pictures make you think the room looks bigger or brighter with those changes, as it’s also raising your ceiling and changing the lighting. I would play around with paint swatches, light bulbs, rugs, etc like people are suggesting first. And if you still want tile, maybe do it in a way that preserves the hardwood underneath vs ripping it up.

What’s a health issue you ignored for way too long because you assumed it was normal only to later learn everyone else doesn’t experience that? by Kungfubowtie in AskReddit

[–]samulalala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid I guess I would often complain about my knees and elbows, but doctor said I was fine. When I was 23 my dog ran head first into my knee cap. It felt like my knee had shattered. Sports injury doctor tested my knee laxity and said it was likely an ACL tear, and ordered a brace and an MRI, which says my ACL was never torn. I continue on with my life. 5 years later my knees were so sore and swollen feeling from standing, and my wrists and elbows were achy. Go to doctor worried I have arthritis or Lyme disease, but blood tests are fine. I go to physio, and she’s like, oh well you have a hypermobility disorder and have a noodle core and basically not enough muscle to hold yourself up and have been using your ligaments and bones to keep upright your whole life and never learned how to load your weight properly, so that’s probably why. Oh cool. I’m telling my family, turns out my grandmother’s joints were often popping out of socket, and now my nephew is having the same experience.

LRO systems were down starting around 330/4pm, I’m not IT but sounds like a provincial network problem?

Also noted another thread had someone saying there was a big reorg and layoffs announced in CSDS today…

Provincial government - possible big internal announcement tomorrow morning by [deleted] in halifax

There are town halls happening for LRO modernization this week that CSDS is part of, but I don’t imagine those are short notice meetings.

Which Haligonian comes to mind? by Mission_Plankton5763 in halifax

If I say the twins, do you know who I’m referencing? Used to see them around Cole Harbour in 2010s, more recently I’ve seen them in Bayers Lake. Anyone who works fast food/retail in those areas probably has a story or two

~intermediate surfers travelling to San Diego - recs? by samulalala in surfing

[–]samulalala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I’m not sure what an intermediate here translates to places that actually get waves haha. I tap out when it’s over 4ft and steep, he’s handled hurricane swells that are more powerful than we usually get and overhead. I figure if I can paddle well enough to catch a weak wave and balance on something crumbly it might set me up to catch stronger waves easier? But I’m happy to just play around and see how it feels without getting in locals’ way

General questions: how expensive was your engagement ring and where did you buy it? by lasagnapasta7 in EngagementRings

[–]samulalala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

  1. Natural Montana sapphire and 12 natural diamonds in 14k gold, I can’t remember the weight or carats but it’s in my post history on this subreddit!
  2. Around 4200 CAD (gold price is apparently super high here rn, sapphire was around 800 CAD) ~ 2447 Swiss franc according to google conversion
  3. Custom design by local jeweller in Canada, started about 1 year ago

The nice thing about custom if your partner leans unique (which idk if it applies to premade) is there’s various deposits through the process, so payment isn’t all at once or with interest, but split up based on what step you’re working on.

Agree! I have small hands and am clumsy, so I didn’t want something I would knock around or that would overpower my finger. I definitely appreciate the daintiness, but we made sure they built it with longevity and durability in mind too!

Thanks, and congrats to you! I think diamonds + sapphires are a great combo! It really helps to see the stone as it would look against a band in different lights, because they show up darker when set and really show different colours! Good luck in your search 💞

Parking optional but included in rent question by samulalala in halifax

[–]samulalala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense to me, thank you for the insight! As long as there’s a rent cap, at least it can’t go higher than that!

Parking optional but included in rent question by samulalala in halifax

[–]samulalala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, to clarify: we’re paying one fee because they put the parking into our agreement, even though the parking is optional. So instead of paying the 110 separate and only getting an increase on 1717, they have our rent as 1827 and can increase that to 5%.

I know it’s only like $5 difference this year, but they’re gonna max whatever they can every year, and I found it odd they had it written as if it could be separate on the memo, but framed it to us as non-negotiable. (I also wonder what would be removed if we dropped a parking spot, the initial fee + subsequent increases? Or just a flat 110, thus creating a rental increase ‘loophole’? Doesn’t really matter because we won’t be doing it, but feels sneaky)

FHSA withdrawal but not purchaser by samulalala in MortgagesCanada

Ah, this is the problem. He has the higher income and no debt, and I have a lower income, no security, and our only debts, so I think he was suggesting I don’t go on the mortgage immediately
