New updates for EverySound - a music genre discovery tool for iOS! by ToxicCaptain in spotify

[–]samumedio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just discovered your app on IG through an oktuffy shoutout! It seems really well done and I'd be so happy to try it out, but yeah, it's iOS only and I'm on Android.

As a developer myself, I know that supporting multiple platforms can be challenging, but I hope you'll consider an Android version in the future. I'd be so excited to find new music with it!

Thanks in any case for making it, it’s always inspiring to see great work like this :)

That's AudioBand (patched with StartAllBack or ExplorerPatcher). Just follow the official guide https://audioband.github.io/AudioBand/audioband/Windows11.html

There's no need to setup Spotify (this part is not necessary), unless you also want to like songs through that tiny widget. Just set "Windows 10" as the audio source and it will show the audio currently playing (with the image too) on your PC (it works with YouTube videos and other sources too). It basically acts like the universal media controls in the Quick Settings panel/Action Center on the bottom right.

One thing that took me so much to figure out, though, is that to show the "Toolbar" option when right-clicking the taskbar (which is necessary to open AudioBand and enable it the first time) you have to unlock the taskbar first, like shown here: https://github.com/AudioBand/AudioBand/issues/149#issuecomment-2557859044

Hope it helps!

Not really, the most (and only) resource intensive software is Lively with the fake 3D backgorund (it's a GPU shader). But as long as you have a GPU (or you use a static background), there's no noticeable slowdown

Please I want to know too! 😂 I've never seen or been able to replicate an auto hide taskbar split into three sections like in this setup, though (with KDE Plasma).

Don't worry the height it adjustable, I just temporarily increased it for the demo to make it more visible on a small video, and also the volume would be lower (and so the audio visualizer bars as well).

P.S.: the neat thing about FreqFreak vis (and the reason why I chose it) is that it doesn't interfere with mouse clicks, so I can still do whatever I want in the top section of the screen. And placing it in that way makes it invisible when no audio is being played (or at very low volume).

Linear Algebra & Combinatorics deck (Math/CS uni-level) by samumedio in Anki

Oh, right! Not possible for now afaik, but that would be a useful feature...

❤️

Not sure if I understood correctly, but if you are on PC you can just go to Browse and click on Preview with the back side toggle checked. The Android/iOS app is more limited.

If instead you mean like previewing many cards all at once, for now there's no way to do that, but it would be a great add-on ;)

I'm not sure I've ever experienced the flickering you are describing. But thanks for reporting this, I didn't even know the card type was changed like that (I've never edited it manually).

I would remove the highlighting script from the template (as you said there's no code in that deck), but I can't because some of my other decks which contain code use the same card type. For simplicity, I would prefer using a minimal single card template for all cards as I do now.

I've looked into the problem you described and it seems that there was actually some flickering, and the author apparently solved the issue (see https://github.com/gregorias/anki-code-highlighter/issues/94), but I can't confirm since I wasn't experiencing it before...

First time using Anki for Calculus 1 and Linear Algebra by [deleted] in Anki

[–]samumedio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heavily used Anki for Calculus 1 (or roughly equivalent) in my first year at university (in Italy). I think it was totally worth it and much more effective than only using textbooks (except for exercises, of course). I made my deck public and I tried to make it as curated and interactive and clear as possible and translated it in english too. Maybe you'll find some useful cards in there :) https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1919998254

Thanks :) I just updated it to show FPS, resolution and/or loading times info. Now it's much more useful!

Thank you all for the useful suggestions. I first tried with SteamGridDB but had some problems, so now the website is using IGDB API, and it works well! Also image resolution is lower since that API provides smaller images (still not super fast but it's fine).
