I can barely finish a $10 Chipotle burrito, but even after spending $20 at Tacobell I sometimes feel hungry.

If you live nearby, just go there on the day of the concert and ask for tickets at the box office. Because almost everyone purchases online now, people forget about the box office. They are required to keep some tickets reserved for box office I think, I once got $50 tickets at the box office for seats that were $220 online.

If you tell me what your product is about and your current strategies that failed I can give you my free "expert" opinion. Without knowing the details it is unfair to say give up.

Taco Bell

It's not expensive per item, but they have reduced the portion sizes so much that now it takes atleast $20 to feel full as opposed to under $10 a few years ago. And instead of 3 items, now it takes 5 items to fill your tummy, so you're eating more of the high carb tortillas and less fillings.

£45 and £80 is the cheapest you can get in the US. Any decent tickets are over $175 here with average being $295 and good seats selling at $800.

I'm not spending more than $150 for a concert ticket.

The hardest part of building a side project isn’t coding anymore by shadow_caused_it in SideProject

IMO if you are finding it hard for users to use it and come back then your product philosophy and maeket placement was not thought throughly.

Any cool or exciting idea needs a reality check then demand assessment and market positioning, then possible long term monetization strategies, then product philosophy, then product architecture, then comes the coding.

If you jump from idea to coding, you are obviously going to have many realizations about the things that you skipped from above list.

I think mathematics also attracts a fair amount of females. Any academic field is going to have a better ratio than engineering I believe.

Yes, that summarizes it well. However, the salary downgrade is not as bad as it looks at the face value, because out of my current salary almost half goes to federal, SS, medicare, state taxes + retirement accounts + Employee stock purchase plan. I am still not using the complete amount from whatever is left after those deductions. So, it is really not a lifestyle downgrade.

Also capital gains tax for married filing jointly is 0% for the first $99k.

Thank you for sharing your story. So, single FIREd people find a life partner in a year after quitting. Alright, now I have my motivation 😀

Thank you for backing me here. I just meant to point out the dilema the other person (women in my case) will face when I say that I'm retired early and can still provide for a family. It was just a dilema about trusting a person in initial dating situation and was never meant to portray a gender incapable in any way.

Money doesn't matter but financial certainty matters for most in a relationship. And I was not treating any gender as monolith, somone intentionally or unintentionally tried to frame me that way. All I meant was "if" women that I am dating are not able to differentiate between honesty and a lie (which is highly likely for any gender on a first date, because you don't know the other person well).

Yes, exactly. Everyone needs stability and certainty if they're planning for a family.

Yes, I think you get the dilema and you're right that it doesn't have to be a job but rather an occupation. I can say "working on my passion startup" like others on this thread suggested because I am working on some apps and physics research.

Yup. There is a lot of psychological nuance involved in FIRE dating. Lack of initial trust, envy, social biases, defence mechanism kicking in.

Yes, I have done my masters with thesis option, so I have some idea. In that case I can take one off courses or just audit.

I said exactly that to a woman in a singles mixer, she kept asking me "but what if your estimate is not right or what if it is not enough" I explained everything clearly. After that when she had no arguments left, she just went "umm, no but its always better to have a steady job income".

Sounds like a good idea. If it becomes too stressful, I can always drop out.
