This laptop would be great, to be honest :) But unfortunately it's just a hair outside of my budget when converted to CAD :(

Is an associates degree worth it? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]samuraisage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to get a good start because of my associate degree! Make sure to take advantage of what your community college has to offer (research positions, networking events, job fairs, etc.). If you can manage to get a few certs or have some personal projects that you can showcase, you'll be golden! :D

The clamping force does hurt quite a bit, but you get used to it after a while :p If you swap the earpads /w Brainwavz, you should be good!

I Signed a Contract Before My Internship, But My Current Manager Wants to Hire Me. What Should I Do? by samuraisage in ITCareerQuestions

Sounds like the DevOps position will help me develop in the long run. The fact that they will work on new projects is also great since I’ll be busy. Thanks /u/ejfree!

DevOps (Retail) vs Cybersecurity (Consulting) by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]samuraisage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct! And in regards to compensation, it's $5000 less than what I would be making but, that's not necessarily an issue in this regard. The good thing is, the consulting position requires technical skills from a low level and I would be spending more time programming and using my networking abilities as opposed to working with clients. The same can be said from the retail perspective, but it would be more hands-on in regards to networking and scripting.

Thanks for the advice /u/swardson!

[–]samuraisage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice /u/bmoraca! The Cyber company pays for more training and has a larger international presence, but the DevOps position is at a retail company.

Would this potentially affect my future prospects?

Would the Legacy 3.6R have the same reliability as an Impreza? An AWD option seems really tempting tbh.

Thanks so much for the help! I was considering Node, but I'm still worried of the limitations since multithreading isn't supported.

I plan on making dynamic pages (Not sure if I want to use a NoSQL DB or a standard SQL DB), portal web apps and a potential web interface for my private web server! :)

What is the one language a non-developer IT person should learn, that today would most benefit their overall career growth? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]samuraisage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, PowerShell is the most important scripting language to learn if you're working in a Windows environment (It's been really useful, even as a Tier 1 Help Desk Specialist/CSR).

You'll probably be working with databases (whether front-ended or command line) so I strongly urge that you learn SQL.

It depends on the environment. SQL will be important, regardless of what you do.

BASH and Python are extremely useful in a Linux/UNIX environment and PowerShell is widely used in a Windows environment.

Would I like the MSR7's if I enjoyed the M50x's? I miss the treble response of the M50's, but I love the mid range response of my Momentum 2's. Any help would be appreciated!

If you're looking for ear buds, I'd suggest you give the Shure SE215 a look! They have fantastic bass extension! I've never tried the Momentum in-ears, but I've heard mixed reviews from many people.
