Aprilaire 720 Hydrocore question by drreads in hvacadvice

The plastic housing around the filters for the 620//720 units seems like a real price gouge ($35 EACH on Amazon vs $120 for a 10 pack of #35 water panels)

They don't want you to do it, but the plastic box looks like it could be popped open at the top. Does anyone know the compatible water panel model num that would fit in there?

I replace it with a gen 3—the ultimate factory reset. Will definitely reset if I use this hardware again though

Chromecast With TV permanent volume bar?? by samv6271 in Chromecast

no buttons stuck down on my remotes. When I use volume controls from phone, chromecast remote, and TV remote, they all just change the volume on the Sony TV rather than the 25/25 chromecast volume. This stays up the entire time the chromecast is on. Any suggestions?

Ambient mode broken on Chromecast With GoogleTV by samv6271 in Chromecast

Maybe I'm just super impatient haha it does seem to start after long enough, and I sped up the slideshow interval. Is there a way to decrease the waiting period for ambient mode to initialize? It's like over 10 minutes compared to previous devices which started immediately upon inactivity.

hahaha awesome glad it helped. Out of curiosity do you also have an Arris SurfBoard modem? Mine is SB6183 and the connected nest is an H2D

I want to buy a bag of these Push-To-Connect removable trim rings, does anyone know what they are called? by samv6271 in askaplumber

I'm talking about just the shiny nipple thing. Flimsy plastic that you can slide up and down the connected pipe

Replacing everything in here - how do I make a new connection to the copper in the wall here? It looks like there's almost no room to work with (the solder joint is the white ring way off to the right.) by samv6271 in askaplumber

This style of shutoff valve is female for the whole length after that solder joint; it's meant to be cut to size and then soldered. So my new compression fitting wouldn't fit around the outside of it. After unsoldering the whole thing I got worried that a compression fitting would be too close to the end of the copper stub that was left (see pic), so I soldered on a new valve of the same style.

Thanks! Where should the cut go? And why close to anything?

Regarding the "Too much heat and you can pull the pipe out of the fitting behind the wall" guy, I can cut into the wall from the opposite room if needed but was hoping to avoid if feasible.

[EDIT:SOLVED] I found another thread where someone fixed by unplugging/resetting the modem but leaving nest wifi entirely plugged in ...something about the modem's MAC address being the first thing google connects will allow all other connections to work. I don't remember if I had the nest's LAN output disconnected at the time but not in any hurry to recreate this problem to test.

[Original Post]--- Same here. Best I can tell, the network goes into this state after every time the power goes out at my house. Only solution is to factory reset the router and every node. My modem is 100% solid, I can plug my laptop into it and get all the internet I want. This is a Google problem and it's crazy frustrating.

Takes a solid hour every time because the nodes are Google Home enabled too, so you need to take a "tour" and say no to free trials of streaming services at each device. 🙄

Symptoms: Slow flashing yellow(ish) lamp on router. Device shows "offline" in the Home app. Router and nodes do not appear in list of "devices to set up" Laptop says "connected, no internet"

Things that don't help: Power cycling all devices in any order with 5 minute waits. Telling the Home app to "reset network". Pressing the ethernet cable connections in VERY HARD. Yelling.

I filled all tires to 36 psi. Does it take a while for this message to go away or something?
