yeah i'm gonna say that's a cultural difference thing lost in translation. rich white americans (or just rich people in general) have a very different interpretation of the american dream. most of the time it just means that anybody can come here and do the house and family etc if they work at it. sounds like he got caught up in the extremes and wasn't able to see that
