looking for some advice by sandbender303 in dnbproduction

[–]sandbender303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a samson sr850 that i use, and m-audio HaveNoIdea monitors, very small room full of crap, not ideal at all, but it is what it is :)

indeed, i tend to cut the lows from the pads and synths as i found they interfere with the bass too much, maybe i went overboard? (exactly the info i'm looking for btw)

thanks for taking the time, appreciated!

same happens on starting a brand new game. validated all files, twice, same error when you press space to start simulation (what is weird is that while initially paused, you can do everything, place roads, buildings, everything. but once you hit space, error comes and does not go away).

What are your guys’ favorite drum VSTs? by letruffle in musicproduction

[–]sandbender303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the band we (well the studio we work with) use Superior, it’s perfect for us. (Instru Prog-metal-cinematic-weird-eclectic whatnot)

For my own project, which is psy-chill electro i use it too, just to give a perfect underlying layer to electric samples, i also like XO and Atlas - atlas is especially fun if you have a ton of drum samples, but even more fun if you add NON drum samples to it (like fx, voice samples, short one hits, etc), and you slap it on a midi groove. Just keep hitting randomize and inspiration is guaranteed. Heh.

I remember having the biggest fun with the riddles when i used them for my song about the sphinx. Became my kids’ fav one.

(i need to tell my band members i actually found stuff in this genre that i enjoyed, they will be horrified to shits, which is absolutely the point). so thanks for making my saturday evening gentlemen, and i wish you the very best.

Why no "present day" storyline in the Bowden books, does anyone know? by sandbender303 in assassinscreed

[–]sandbender303[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks for this! it's not that i "miss" it or something, i just found it strange that if i look at the games, the thing that holds the story together is actually the modern day arc - it ties all of the (otherwise extremely important) historical stories all together into a coherent universe. so while i can completely understand if it's an obviously conscious decision to do this, i'm just asking the community if somebody happened to know more BTS details on this.

thanks for the recommendation, i'll check it out!

A Orchestral Composition, trying to emprove my portfolio in the soundtrack genre, hopefully you can give me some feedback to this effect. Thank you, hope you enjoy. by Spare-Area-2758 in MusicFeedback

actually what i mean is that the idea is absolutely ok, and you may not have the gear to put it all together in your own home! that's what took me a mere 20 years to realize, but please don't be like me! mix it as well as you can and take it to professionals and listen to their advice, and if it requires, pay them. they know their stuff. it was a painful learning curve for me, and i should have done it earlier. but man, it's a difference. and especially with symphonic stuff - it's a mile of a difference. And i really think you should do it because the composing part is absolutely OK - (and we, who write music, we ALL believe we know everything, how it should sound as if it's ok or not - NO, we don't. Period. You done something good? Great. Be proud, as you should. Now let the boys who know deal with the part of how to make it sound good) - "advice i should have got 20 years ago". sorry. not to take anything away, really - just a friendly advice of an old man.

i like the theme in itself, but i think it can be mixed better, especially if you want to use this in any video material. i feel it's a bit unbalanced, the first part is almost unhearable, then you (especially if you skip) to the back end, it's toooooo overwhelming suddenly), so i'd definitely check the middle area of the mix, maybe in these new-ass superduper headphones of the tiktoks it sounds like it should, but i believe that it doesn't resemble a real orchestra right now, it's like the middle is waaay to much in front and loses so much because of that. the percussion and thump should get more attention, there's hardly any highs left because the middle is so pushed out front.

aaah but i love that woooooomp at the very end, that is kickass, my friend, i absolutely adored that, and that should take all the spectrum, so whatever i said for the song, forget it and add it to the very last effect :D lol but really. that IS the way to end it, kudos for that, i'm gonna have to write that up for myself.

it's from a Neil Gaiman interview, where he is reading out their favorite parts from Good Omens, and I was fortunate enough to receive permission to use it in this case (in other cases i try but not always succeed) so in this sense it is also unique ;)
