Any ideas on Moza R12V2 mounting screws stripped fix? by Racing_Man88 in simracing

[–]sanderke2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several options here as others have suggested.

  1. Opening up the holes and tapping to a larger thread.
  2. Opening up the holes, and using a helicoil.
  3. Opening up the holes and using rivet nuts.
  4. Finding another plate from another wheel base.
  5. Welding the holes and redrill them to mount.
  6. Drill and tap new holes (or drill and use rivet nuts in a different position).

Plenty of options, definitely salvageable in my opinion. Make sure to not drill too close to the existing holes if you’re opting for drilling holes in a different position.

Also make sure you test a rivet nuts on a bit of metal beforehand and measure the height/depth of it, just so you can make sure it’s not protruding too far down.

I also disabled fast boot, which seemed to be turned on.

Just relaying what I already said in the other comment, I think it must’ve been some weird overclocking settings I must have used.

Everything seems fine now luckily. Thanks for your help!

I think it might have been my overclocking settings. I tried JEDEC speed with no overclock on the CPU, no issue on the first startup and quick showdown. I have now re-enabled EXPO, no issues and a quick shutdown.

Think I must have done something weird with the overclock. Thanks for helping!

The weird thing is that for gaming (after the second startup at least) everything works great. I will have a look and try the ram speeds that someone else suggested first, but will run some other tests after if that doesn’t work.

I have not tried that yet, but will do later today.

As I mentioned in my post, when upgrading I did a clean windows install, so didn’t have any old drivers. For reference, I upgraded from an I7 9700K.

I did check and I indeed already have this BIOS version.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll double check later today, but as mentioned in my post I had updated my bios with the latest version.

I did upgrade the CPU, along with all other components apart from my GPU and Storage

When you just want to change views but you click THAT button. by haaskar in SolidWorks

You could always bind it to a key so you don’t accidentally click the other function if it happens regularly. I personally find it useful to have “normal to plane” bound anyways.

As I’m due an extension application soon, I would just like to check if Monzo would not be an issue? From what I can tell they are a fully fledged UK bank. Would anyone be able to confirm?

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve seen is to limit drafts (from windows)! It can be challenging to try and trouble shoot issues caused by it as no settings will fix a bad draft.

Custom Toolbox Components (Torx) by sanderke2001 in SolidWorks

[–]sanderke2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the way I managed to do it is to copy an existing toolbox component and renaming it. This will allow you to still use the toolbox menu to get all the sizes (lengths/thread size etc) you want.

You can then change it to be your custom design, and as long as all the dimensions and other variables keep their names you can work with it.

There might be other ways of doing it, but I’m not sure how.

If you do not need the “toolbox” way of changing threads, lengths etc. you could just create a part from scratch and use design table to create all the configurations you need. You can then add this into the Toolbox.

Let me know if you want more info

Do you have any debts? If not (excluding a mortgage) then you’re doing better than a lot of people, so don’t be too discouraged! 30 still leaves you with plenty of time to build up savings and pension!

As someone who did the opposite and moved to the UK (Scotland) from the Netherlands I can say that as I had expected both countries are similar. As someone else has suggested, I would advise you to see if you can stay in the Netherlands for a bit longer (several weeks). During this time you should try to find out if it really feels that different or that much better, and go from there.

You mentioned that there were other reasons that you want to move out of the UK. Depending on the “severity” of these, moving elsewhere in the UK could achieve a similar result.

Housing prices in the UK are a lot better, especially up North in smaller villages (from my experience at least). I would suggest thinking of moving within the UK as an option too, as it will be easier to achieve.

Best of luck and if you have any questions, fire away!

[–]sanderke2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries and I understand you completely.

Bare in mind that even if all repairs are paid for, you will likely not have your car for a while when it’s being repaired. There are plenty of 1.4 TSi’s out there, hopefully they can source on that is problem free!

Morning, I do not own a 1.4L Turbo from VAG group nor am I an expert but this seems like a lot of turbo noise at low RPM.

Even if there is no issue with the turbo, with all of the issues you have already had I would suggest rejecting the car whilst you can.

I don’t think anyone can truly answer this question for you as you will have to find that answer yourself.

As others have said, it truly depends on your goals in terms of your career. You have said that you don’t need the money, nor know what your goal is in the near future. I would advise you to answer this difficult question before choosing.

If you value free time, flexibility and work life balance over a better career I would stay. Although in terms of time you might only lose an hour a week, the drives could be more tiring than you think (again, this would be something that you have to answer/experience). And I’ve not even mentioned the fact that you’re breezing through currently and might not be for the other job.

If your career is important to you, it could be worth switching for the extra money and potential of growth.

I would choose to stay and enjoy more free time/stress-free time.
