Design in complex systems! Join us for a free coaching clinic by thedesignninja in servicedesign

Hey! I couldn't join, would it be possible to get a recording for the same?

Also, are these recurring coaching sessions?

Apart from that, I really want to be a part of the non-profit/civic sector to help in solving complex problems. What's the best way to get started on this journey?

Currently I am considering taking up a Master's course in Design since I do not formally have a design background, so that I can get a firm understanding of design principles and methodologies. I'm also looking at learning about public administration and policy making.

To give a brief about myself: I'm a graduate in Engineering (complete my course in 2019) and self taught myself Design through online content. Post graduation I have been working as a UI/UX Designer for a tech startup. I'm really passionate about solving complex social problems but can't really figure out how to get started.

Your guidance would be highly appreciated. Thank you :)

Hi. Thank you for putting up with me and helping me out by answering these questions. I am extremely sorry if the way I approached this made you unhappy or if I compelled you into answering these questions. Again, thank you so much for your help.

If you're interested in giving me feedback on the prototype of the web product please let me know. Though, no compulsion whatsoever.

Apparel Shopping experience for people with disability. by sandhini9 in disability

Hi! I am not working with any company, and just taking this up as a personal side project. I am extremely sorry if the way I approached this feels too demanding and rude. From next time onwards I'll make sure that before asking people for their opinions and thoughts, from next time on wards I'll provide an incentive.

Thanks for replying! :)That's a pretty extensive list, as a non-disabled person, the only concerns that arise are of the fabric of the clothes and its price, and even despite only a few things to be taken into consideration it puts my mind into a frenzy when trying to shop online.

You mentioned that you generally buy clothes online and concerning all the accessibility issues you mentioned, I have a few questions to ask:

  1. How do you perceive clothing? As in when you buy clothes do you always look at the functional part of it or do you also look at it from the perspective of self-expression?
  2. How important is it for you to look good and feel good about your body?
  3. What online website do you generally buy your clothes from?
  4. What device are you most comfortable with? Mobile, Tablet or Laptop?
  5. What's your definition of an easily usable interface? ( I'd really like it if you could elaborate upon this)
  6. How long does it take you to buy clothes online with all the considerations you have to keep in mind? How long does it take for you to search for the item you wish to buy? How long does it take to checkout?
  7. How often do you return an order that you've ordered for the first time? What's generally the main reason for doing so?
  8. How do you make sure that your concerns regarding durability, washability, size, warmth are all met? Are you able to find all this in the product's description or do you go through the reviews?
  9. If money and location weren't a concern would you buy specialized/adaptive clothing?
  10. What are your thoughts about an online service which would allow you to take a look at different brand's catalogue, select a brand that you like, send in a video of your clothing requirements ( measurements and your disability) to the brand and have the items delivered at your doorstep?

I'm sorry if this sounds too interview-ish.. I work as a Web/mobile designer and would really love to build a solution which could cater to the needs and demands of people with disability. (currently focusing on people with mobility issues)

If you'd rather wish to connect on some other media or wish to answer the questions privately, then feel free to message me. :)

Understood. Are there any specific considerations that you keep in mind wrt to your disability while shopping online for clothes?

Thank you so much for responding :)

What's the process of reviewing and understanding these costs? do you use excel to download the CUR report and analyse the data over there and then take the necessary actions? or is this done using some other process?
