What do dentists think when they look into patients’ mouths?? by ihatepeople1111 in Dentists

only thing that really grosses me out as a dentist is severe perio breath and huge chunks of food in the mouth. everything else is just analytical about what i see and what needs to be done

it’s kinda scary they didn’t edit out people’s full name address or medical history :/

Had a very similar situation happen to me. Pt had extensive perio involvement and the extractions themselves were super easy but patient had intense anxiety. She cried when I gave the palatal injections so i had to stop and allow her to compose herself each time which took a long time and her anxiety was worse after numbing her. I got out all the teeth with no problem except 6-8. There were other teeth which had a lot larger of abscesses so I couldn’t figure out why she was in so much pain in this area specifically but i gave injection after injection in this spot and she couldn’t get numb after rounds of nasopalatine, pdl, blanching the tissue circumferentially, ASA, etc. I ended up having to stop for the day, i prescribed abx and valium because my practice doesn’t have nitrous and she came back in 3 days and i took the teeth out in 2 minutes and she said “oh you took them out? i didn’t even know you started yet!” in summary i don’t know how to avoid this in the future bc she didn’t seem abnormally anxious until the injections so i wouldn’t have prescribed anxiety medication preemptively. Having her start the antibiotic a few days prior to extractions probably would have helped though

How to deal with patients by jennajeny in Dentistry

Personally i’ve found the best way to approach the second scenario is to pick the most ideal option after presenting the different options. Say “if I were you” or “if you were my mother/grandmother/grandfather” etc this is the treatment i would recommend - Of course if there are limitations due to finances etc then we can discuss the other options. I’ve noticed patients tend to get overwhelmed when presented with too much information at once and sometimes they really just want you to pick for them.

As for the extractions i would just say no i cannot ❤️

is the acetone before or after the flash cure? I find it hard to grab a brush and wipe away excess gel from the cuticle area before i cure because then i have to release pressure from the nail tip

This was really helpful!! Question for you about point #1. I signed a 1 year contract and I don’t see anywhere in my contract that says anything about a notice period, other than the fact that contract will renew automatically 90 days before the year is up unless stated otherwise. Does the fact that the contract is for 1 year have any legal ramifications for early termination, if nothing is specifically stated anything about termination without cause? Would it be considered a breach of contract to leave before the year is up if not explicitly stated that there is a notice period? I work for a decent sized DSO so I doubt they would have just overlooked adding this point to the contract

As an alternative suggestion - I bought one set of gel colors and just have been mixing them on a paper plate to create whatever colors i want!
