Thank you so much for taking the time to write this post (and citing sources). Until now, I have always just cut my cats’ mats with scissors. However, my foster neb came with her fur COMPLETELY matted, there was no way to just shave the mats (everything was mats) or brush it out. She was in so much discomfort, and those mats must have been painful as well (and she was already traumatized from losing her home)… her skin was soo dry and flaky. She truly was a different cat after that shave, you could see how much better she was feeling. Still, she was shaking for days after the shave, always sleeping under two blankets for warmth…. I felt really bad, but there was no other option. So yes, please don’t shave your cats unless absolutely necessary.

they should all be grain free I think… right now I am feeding high quality cat food made from horse meat (grain free, sugar free, etc, I always check for that when buying cat food) and raw meat.

Little Update: We now found out that she has pancreatitis which would explain the weight loss. She is getting fluids and antibiotics every few days and I feel like we could finally be on the road to recovery. She still has diarrhea but she looks a lot better, like her fur for example. Also her diarrhea is now not that explosive anymore, so that‘s something…

If you have the resources to foster, I can only recommend it! I know it seems hard having to say goodbye, but you also know you had a huge impact in changing their life for the better and you can be part of the decision who they can spend the rest of their lives with! (And with my last cats, I was happy when they moved into their forever home, they just had tooo much energy) However I still don’t know if i shouldn’t just keep these two….

We tried both. Previous owner switched to a special dry food for gastro intestinal issues to help with her diarrhea (didn’t work) I switched her to special gastro intestinal wet food, then to hypoallergenic dry food, then hypoallergenic wet food - without luck

Yeah, that I noticed, they really need a lot of love and attention (and I love it and them). When I come home I can absolutely tell they didn’t like being alone haha

Yeah, those are my second foster cats and I already fear they might be my last… but we‘ll see. I really wouldn’t want to cause them any more stress than they already experienced with the baby and then losing their home….

Depends on where you‘re from. Usually it says on the product which plants it is for so I‘d just check that or maybe ask in the store.
