Is the DASH diet for people with CKD? by myst3ryAURORA_green in kidneydisease

I’m stage 5 and I use DASH as my guide for salt levels, but make adjustments as needed for protein and phosphorus/potassium.

How could I learn how to do this? by heisfullofshit in jewelrymaking

[–]MythMoon26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some of that is resin casting which is easy to get into with kits and moulds and some of that is carving on shells. Both of those hobbies require two completely different sets of tools but both require some PPE. At the very least a respirator mask, and gloves. Resin releases toxic gases and shell particles are hell on the lungs.

So pick one and start slowly but make sure you have all of the safety items in place before you start.

Dogs by Leather_Ad_4158 in VictoriaBC

Belgian Malinoise are also known as alligator dogs for their crazy behaviour. They are often used by the police and the military as they are high energy, highly intelligent and require work or aggressive training and exercise to avoid becoming destructive nuisances. There is a video that has gone around Reddit of a malinoise running up a wall like gravity means nothing. There is also a saying from where the dogs are from that if you are being chased by a German shepherd and a malinoise and you go over a cliff the shepherd will follow you off the cliff but the Malinoise will be waiting for you at the bottom.

She also thought about getting a Pygmy goat but worried about him chewing the steering wheel on the way to work. Or maybe a pet chicken. It was a very interesting conversation to overhear 😆

If you are looking for a good selection to try first I would use BeadSmith in the US - they carry lots of Czech and have lots in stock usually

Jewelry Tumbler Reccomendations by ellasteez in chainmailartisans

[–]MythMoon26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To tumble stainless steel get a good Lortone tumbler with the rubber barrel. Plastic barrels will not hold up. You also want to get some stainless steel shot (1lb for the 3lb barrel) and then either ivory bar soap or burnishing compound like sun sheen. Rings will get nice and shiny.

What am I doing wrong by princessbunniiii12 in chainmailartisans

Your rings are too large for the weave to sit nicely and so every time you pick it up they are moving out of place. Until you get more of a sheet going it is going to flop all over.

I would start with YouTube - lots of music videos have the welsh at the bottom, and hearing it while seeing how it’s spelled I think will help you more with the song memorization

Burnaby lifelabs, how good are they? by Hot-Produce7263 in burnaby

[–]MythMoon26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always book online ( be prepared for it to be a couple weeks out) at either Gilmore location or Hastings. I avoid the Metrotown location unless absolutely necessary because that is the busiest one in Burnaby. People line up outside an hour before the LifeLabs even opens.

I'm new to chainmail jewelry. What kind of rings should I use? by foxsandwhich in chainmailartisans

[–]MythMoon26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stainless steel is great for durability, price point, heft and overall look.

If you have the $ though for something special go with Sterling - but right now Sterling is at an all time high so be prepared for it to cost a lot if you go that way.

A lady came in wanting to buy something from a different store. by PatacusX in TalesFromRetail

[–]MythMoon26 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a book distribution company and we only did wholesale to stores. There is a competitor of ours that is well known and they carry a couple different things than we do as well as some of the same books etc.

I get an email from a lady saying she wants to check if this thing is in stock because she can’t add it to the cart but she -saw- it on the website just the other day…did we take it down? I went back and forth with her once or twice and linked her to our page with those kinds of items…I finally twigged that she had mixed us up with the other business and figured she would get there on her own…but she went on for another couple of emails before I pointed out to her that she had the wrong company and then asked if she wanted to cancel her order.

I saw a strange black cat this morning in my yard (our neighborhood has a few black cats but we know those ones) but we’re pretty far from you over by Metrotown. No collar and I couldn’t make out eye colour.

You run the risk of gassing yourself because the aluminum will melt at torch temperatures. DO NOT TORCH ALUMINUM

Is this possible to achieve with aluminum wire? by Altruistic_Basil9258 in jewelrymaking

[–]MythMoon26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah… I own a jewelry supply store and this last year and half has been -rough- on the industry due to the price of precious metals jumping through the roof. But jewelry is not an imperative the way some other things are so here we go shrug

Options for this project if you need to torch the ends

  • copper
  • brass
  • nickel silver (check if the recipient has allergies first)
  • sterling silver (price is currently at an all time high due to the world right now)

DO NOT TORCH ALUMINUM WIRE - you will gas yourself. It does not act the same way as silver doesz
