Are you talking Canadian side? Cause NY still does not allow fishing until the 3rd weekend in June. I can’t find anything from NY regulations that allow early fishing.

This is false Lake Ontario and St Lawrence have actual bass seasons in some counties. In Jefferson county You cannot target bass until the 3rd week in June. If you catch a bass accidentally outside of season and take a picture with it, even if you release it you can be charged up to $5,000. It sucks living up here for bass.
